Updated Class of 2021 Rankings (4/26)

With the regular season being close to giving way to the playoff season, we’ve had ample opportunity to see players in the sophomore class, which has allowed us to build off previous looks we had during a busy summer and fall season. With that it's time to update our player rankings for the Class of 2021, which we present here.
Our team of scouts (it's a sizable team) have covered hundreds of high school games since January, allowing us to get multiple views on many of these players. The evaluation process is ongoing, we understand that, but after scouting and evaluating these players for over a year we believe this represents the most comprehensive and accurate set of player rankings for the 2021 class in the State of California.
In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts have also had multiple discussions to review their lists and make necessary adjustments based on what they’ve seen. The overall has been presented, torn down, picked apart, recreated, torn down, and picked apart again before our scouts concluded on what we present here.
Without further ado, we present the updated and expanded Class of 2021 player rankings.
THE TOP FIVE
There is a lot of development that takes place for players in the sophomore class and as players rise that simply means we feel their development arc has surpassed others they have moved ahead of. In the end, our scouts were able to agree on our updated and expanded 2021 Top 100 Player Rankings for the state of California which we present below.
In the #1 spot is SS Cody Schrier (JSerra HS), a USC commit. He has gained some physicality and that only adds to a profile that includes plus defensive tools, particularly his first step/range and arm strength, along with a disciplined and fairly polished approach at the plate.
Shortstop Marcelo Mayer (Eastlake HS), a USC commit, is in the #2 spot and has emerged as one of the elite shortstops in SoCal. His tools are above average across the board defensively with sure hands, plus footwork and a plus arm. His frame and left-hand hitting profile only add to his overall projectability.
Rising to #3 is Tonko Susac (Jesuit HS), an Oregon State commit, he is the younger cousin of Oregon State bound '20 catcher Daniel Susac. With three above average pitches that all project as plus or near plus pitches beyond the high school level, he's got front of the rotation projectability.
Remaining near the top of the ranks is #4 RHP/1B Alonzo Tredwell (Mater Dei HS), a UCLA commit. At 6-foot-6, 215-pounds Tredwell is a physically imposing player with a live, loose arm on the mound along with the ability to drive balls into the gaps at the plate. Tredwell's ceiling remains very high.
Remaining in the top five at #5 is RHP/C Luke Jewett (JSerra HS), a UCLA commit. With a fastball up to 90 mph to go along with standalone talents/tools as a position player, Jewett is one of the more well-rounded players in the class. Time will tell whether he's a pitcher or catcher, but we aren't there yet.
INSIDE THE RANKINGS
A LOOK AT NUMBERS 6- 10:
No. 6 SS - Davis Diaz (Uncommitted)
Outstanding glove skills and high baseball IQ were always known parts of his game, now the bat is starting to catch up, which makes Diaz an elite talent in California
No. 7 OF - Roc Riggio (Uncommitted)
A left-handed hitter with potentially elite hit-ability, including bat control and power. The hit tool is generally the one that is hardest to figure out for scouts, but with Riggio it seems clear that he has it
No. 8 SS - Max Muncy (Uncommitted)
Another among a very deep and talented group of SoCal shortstops, Muncy's overall tool set is impressive, rating at least a tick above average across the board. The frame allows for more projection
No. 9 CF - Tyree Reed (Uncommitted)
Long and lean, he's a glider in CF with plus range and well above average arm strength. The bat is still a work in progress but the tools are undeniable. Can disrupt an opponents' defense with his speed
No. 10 C Maxwell Shor (San Diego)
Top ranked catcher in this class, Shor has the big arm and skilled defensive mechanics that allow that arm to play in the 1.90-2.00 range. Good athlete, particularly for the catcher position, and the bat plays
