The Class of 2020 in California is shaping up to be a special one in terms of the number of high level prospects. The class is beginning to remind many who have covered the area of the Class of 2017 which saw 10 California prepsters taken in the first, second, or compensatory round, including the Number One overall pick for the second consecutive year.

While those are lofty standards to meet up to in any given year, the Class of 2020 in California is shaping up to give it a run. With the top players in the class manning premium positions it is easy to see why this class is showing the signs of being very special.

In the top spot in the class is RHP/OF Jared Jones (La Mirada HS), a Southern California recruit, whose stuff, frame, and an electric arm that touches 95 give him a chance to be a frontline pitcher. He also shows some power at the plate along with a hit tool that has scouts wondering where his future lies because of his ability to patrol the outfield, making him a potential two-way prospect in the future.

Holding down the second spot is Pete Crow-Armstrong (Harvard Westlake HS), a Vanderbilt commit, whose pure athleticism alone makes him one of the top players in the class. Combine that with his instincts and overall abilities within the game and you see a player who has a chance to be very special moving forward. A long limbed, left-handed hitting center fielder, Crow-Armstrong combines graceful movements with a big, powerful arm that makes him the top defender in his class.

RHP/3B Max Rajcic (Orange Lutheran HS), a UCLA commit that combines a 93 mph fastball with a power curve on the mound to go with good feel for hitting checks in at number three. Another potential two-way prospect, Rajcic projects more on the mound because of his how much his stuff plays up.
