3/3/19 - The LSU commit had a big day at the plate, showing improvement at the plate versus better competition since seen last. Did not hesitate to get extended early and crushed a fastball up for a home run foul and followed that with a double. In his next at-bat kept his hands back a tick longer and punished a fastball up for a home run to left-center field in the games premier pitcher-hitter matchup. Defensively continued to show his plus baseball movements and IQ on the field.

2/23/19 - The LSU commit looked poised on the field, flashing an all-around game that projects well for the college game. Has the size and athleticism to play anywhere in the infield and outfield. Displayed smooth hands, fundamentally sound footwork and good hand eye coordination fielding ground balls. Starts in a wide hitting base with a minimal load and hands and elbow held high. Struggled getting extended which resulted in weak contact and an inability to make hard contact in his four at-bats. Hitting mechanics could use adjustment to cope with the inevitable increase in velocity at the next level. Flashed the requisite tools and ability to be a successful college player and has the athleticism to make the necessary adjustments.

8/12/18 - 6-foot, 160-pounds. Very thin frame with long arms/legs. Fastball was 87-88. It gets on hitters in a hurry and flashes some arm-side run. Curveball is more of a slurve at 71-74 but shows sharp bite into LHH. Has two shapes - 11/5 and more of a 12/6 with late break. Didn't throw a CH here but threw it at the tryout. Shows some feel for it but zero confidence in it. There's some effort in the arm, but the mechanics are clean and repeatable. Doesn't get squared up -- EVER. Induces weak contact with both pitches. Only 160-pounds so it's easy to dream on the uptick in velo with added weight/mass. Really athletic as he's also a SS.

7/13/18 - Thompson was one of the most intriguing players on the field given his combination of abilities at shortstop - where he shows above average hands, footwork, and arm actions - and on the mound where he opened several eyes. The LSU commit worked 88-90 with a fastball that shows life as it enters the zone pairing that with a curveball in the 74-78 range that flashed late break. He retired batters on a broken bat blooper to shortstop, a strikeout and a soft liner to first base.
