PBR Canada: 2026 Rankings Breakdown (AB/BC/ON)
September 6, 2023
With the summer season now complete, our updated rankings from the 2024 - 2026 classes continue to roll out as we conclude our three-week long release with the 2026 class. This summer was our first extended look at the 2026 class as we ran Future Games Trials across the country, took in the entire Ray Carter Cup (15U National Championship), along with plenty of game coverage in home provinces.
We also had an up-close look at several of the 2026 prospects in the country at the PBR Future Games in Georgia as we took five underclass players to the event, the most we've ever brought to the event.
This current release of 2026 rankings serves as the inaugural rankings in both Alberta and British Columbia as our databases in those provinces continue to grow. The updated rankings in this class come at a perfect time as our staff took in 25+ games last weekend at the Ray Carter Cup with some of the top 2026 and 2027 prospects in the country representing their province in Laval, Quebec.
Below, we provide a look at the Top 10 in each province, as well as a breakdown on the Top 3.

Spencer Gordon 1B / 3B / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
Infielder Spencer Gordon is one of the more physically advanced 2026s in the country and his overall game has really trended upwards since we got our first extended look at last year's Jr. Future Games. The bat is the carrying tool right now for the 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed hitter and the ball jumps off his bat with relative ease, producing consistent exit velocities in the 90s (94mph max). Continues to be an easy standout every time we see him on the field with players his own age.

Kaysen Young RHP / OF / AHP Academy, AB / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
Kaysen Young comes in at No. 2 in Alberta's inaugural 2026 rankings following a strong summer on the mound. Comes with a good combination of size, stuff and athleticism at 6-foot-2, 190-pounds. Works quickly and efficiently in-game with a three-pitch mix (FB/CB/CH) and fastball that sits in the low 80s. Young will be a fun arm to follow in Alberta's 2026 class over the next year as he begins to attend more high-profile events across the country. |
Alex Machej SS / RHP / Okotoks Dawgs Academy, AB / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
The Okotoks Dawgs Academy Scout Day back in March was our first look at the Alex Machej and the overall game was still a little raw but there was plenty to like. We got another look this past week at the Ray Carter Cup and he's made major strides in those six months, especially with the right-handed bat. Really slows the game down at the shortstop position with confidence and athleticism. Should be a name you continue to hear about over the next several years in Alberta as there's still plenty more to tap into for Machej.

Sean Duncan LHP / Port Coquitlam, BC / 2026
Rankings OverallRank: 85 / POS: 11
LHP Sean Duncan continues to standout as the top 2026 prospect in the country and has seemed to take another step on the mound over the past year. Our staff watched him dominate a team of Seattle Mariners prospects back in March with an upper 80s fastball and he continues to mow down hitters at his own age. 6-foot, 155-pounds with plenty of projection and true feel for his three-pitch mix. High ceiling arm who's a must follow in Canada's 2026 class and will likely field plenty of calls from big programs when August 1st rolls around next summer.
|
Nolan Weinmeyer SS / 2B / Lambrick Park , BC / 2026Weinmeyer has long stood out as one of the top positional 2026 prospects on the West Side of the country and it was no surprise when he committed to Illinois State back in April. 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter with tools across the board, starting with a sub-7.00 60-yard and mid-80s arm across the diamond. The right-handed bat has really added some impact over the past year as he's gained strength. Well-rounded game right now from Weinmeyer and will be fun watch as he continues to get more AB's against high-quality talent.
|
Dylan De Meyer 3B / RHP / Abbotsford Christian, BC / 2026Our BC staff has been high on De Meyer for some time now and our national staff got it's first look this past week at the Ray Carter Cup where he was one of the most dominant arms at the tournament. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-hander picked up a pair of wins and allowed just one hit and two walks over 10.1 innings with a staggering 17 punchouts. De Meyer has a chance to really breakout over this next year and make a name for himself on a national level as he begins to pitch on larger stages across the country.

Will Hynes RHP / Lorne Park Secondary, ON / 2026RHP Will Hynes has been a mainstay at the top of Ontario's 2026 rankings since they were released and despite the high-volume of looks we've had, it's rare we've seen him struggle on the mound. The Wake Forest commit pitched at our Eastern Canada ProCase last month and dominated with a three-pitch mix that saw his fastball sit 85-87mph. His feel and movement on his offspeed stuff has really taken his game to another level on the mound as he's solidified himself as one of the top 2026 prospects in the country.

Jordan Jacob 3B / SS / Bill Crothers, ON / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 2 / POS: 1
This summer was a coming out party for Jordan Jacob as he was a major standout at several events, highlighted by his performance at the Future Games in Georgia. Strong right-handed hitter at 6-foot-1, 195-pounds with the ability to tap into his power in-game. Aggressive in the box and swings with intent, consistently looking to do damage and often does. The bat is no-doubt the carrying tool right now and showed some versatility at the Future Games as there's potential to play the corner outfield position, as well. Has really put himself on the map this year as one of the top positional players in the country in his class.
|
Philip Cheong SS / OF / Bill Crothers , ON / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 1
Cheong is another player who's been a mainstay towards the top of the rankings for some time now and is fresh off a gold medal appearance at the Canada Cup where he played the hero for Ontario in the semi-finals with a walk-off single. Twitchy right-handed hitter with game-changing speed (6.45 60-yard) that has allowed him to transition easily into the outfield position. Aggressive hitter with bat speed and has made some adjustments over the summer as he's began facing more high-velocity arms. Had his tools on full display at the Future Games in late July as he took home Player of the Game in Canada's first matchup.
