2017 CIF/RHP Paxton Wallace committed to Wichita State University on Friday. Paxton missed most of his sophomore campaign rehabbing from Tommy John. He was able to DH late in the season for Greenbrier as they made a run to the 5A State Tournament. As he health improved Wallace continued to garner more attention, he played in the All-State Games and the Underclass Games. He also played for the Arkansas Prospects 17U Menard team that won the Premiere World Series in Lubbock Tx, late in the summer. Here is my report on Wallace.
Paxton Wallace, CIF/RHP, Greenbrier HS
Wallace is a 6-foot-1 200-pound corner infielder/ right handed pitcher with a large frame and a physical build. He attacks he baseball with fast bat speed and raw power producing exit velocities up to 98 mph. His swing starts from an athletic stance with a smooth load, he uses a low leg kick as his stride and uses a strong lower half to drive the baseball. Defensively he shows athletic foot work and soft hands as he plays through the baseball. He has a fluid exchange and a strong arm. Overall Wallace is a physical player with raw power. I am intrigued to see him get back on the mound this spring after taking a full year off, the arm strength he displays while defending makes me believe he is going to throw hard.
Wallace will join Arkansas Prospect RHP/INF Logan Easley at Wichita State University. This team has several players that is already committed including the following:
2017 OF/LHP Kinner Brasher- Little Rock
2017 RHP/INF Logan Easley- Wichita State
2017 OF Evan Hooper-Arkansas
2017 MIF Casey Martin- Arkansas
