Flashback Friday: Evan Hooper

Here is a look back at Evan Hooper’s first evaluation at the 2014 Underclass Identification showcase on October 4^th 2014. This was the first event for PBR Arkansas and had 22 players in attendance. Hooper has since had a successful high school season, a busy summer playing for the Arkansas Prospects and Marucci Elite. After the PBR Arkansas Underclass Games Hooper made a verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas.

Hooper is 5-foot-11 165-pound OF/RHP with a medium frame and an athletic build. He blew up the stop watch running back to back 6.51 and 6.55 in the 60. He continued to show off his tools in other areas, throwing 83 from the outfield and registering 86 on exit velocity. During the game portion of the day Hooper displayed a fastball of 83-84 from 3/4 arm slot and maintained his velocity late to batters when he dropped to a side arm slot with good arm-side run. His curveball is a work in progress with a 11/5 action. The change up was his best pitch with fastball arm speed and arm-side run. He threw his changeup 74-76. Overall Hooper has every tool talent evaluators are looking for, he should be fun to watch as he continues to refine his raw tools.
