2017 MIF Hayes Cox committed to Arkansas Tech University. Began on our competing with Perfect Timing in the summer of 2015. He earned an invite to our 2015 Fall All-State Games where he performed well. He gained recruiting momentum competing at short stop for Fayetteville High School, in the spring. He followed his high school season up with another strong campaign for Perfect Timing anchoring that team in the middle of their defense and showed advanced pitch ability on the mound. He also competed in the Top Prospects Games. Most recently he competed in the 2016 All-State Games, below you will find my report from those games.
Overall Cox has shown to be a hard-nosed competitor that shows consistent performance as an advanced player that should transition quickly to college game.
2017 MIF/RHP Hayes Cox, Fayetteville HS
Cox is a 5-foot-10 180-pound middle infielder with an athletic frame and build. He showed the ability to earn the right to compete as a two way player at the next level. On the mound his fastball worked 82-84 mph and was as high as 85 mph. He competed in the strike zone with his breaking ball as well at 70-72 mph with late break. As a position player he showed an advanced defensive skill set playing through the baseball with fluid footwork, a quick exchange and strong accurate arm. Offensively he starts from an athletic stance, he uses a toe tap and back hand load, and he attacks the baseball with fast bat speed and a line drive swing. He showed the ability to hit balls to all fields. Overall Cox is a competitive player with a high motor and the ability to be a pitcher or position player.
