A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+

Pierce is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has strength present and room to add more. Defensively, plays centerfield and has speed and range there. At the plate, hits from the right side and has a very short quick swing. Did a good job on the swing in the video keeping his hands in and letting the barrel work to rip a single to left. Can extend and drive the ball as well, gap power is present to all fields with more in his future. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a longer quick arm action and some effort to a drop and drive delivery. Fastball was 84-86 with downward angle and some late hard armside run. Curveball was 69-70 with good armspeed and big sharp 12/6 to 11/5 break. Showed ability to throw both pitches to both sides of the plate and the ability to really pound that low and away spot with his fastball. Very interesting two-way prospect that is going to help someone.

Pierce is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick bat, short and fast to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path with a lot of strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach working gap to gap, generates natural loft to all fields, easy extra base power to all fields with more still in the tank, exit velocity was 95. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long loose quick arm action, position velocity was 89. Ran a 6.68 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long free quick arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 84-87, touching 87, with some downward angle and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 68-73 with good armspeed and sharp hard 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 75-77 with some armspeed and late armside run with some depth.
