3/25/22

VA/DC Scout Blog

Listed at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with lean strength and long limbs. Athletic makeup with twitch. Has possessed the tools to be one of the better players in the state for a long time and has put those tools into game action over the past year. Had a huge offensive year last spring and picked up where he left off. At the plate it is a wider, square stance that starts in a slight crouch. Hands are set high and minimal pre pitch movement. Stays simple in the stride and does a nice job attacking contact out front. His first at bat he was just a touch early and still barreled it to left field, but right at the left fielder. In his third and fourth at bats he would hit homeruns. The first got in on the handle a touch and he sent it out of right center field. The next at bat, his fourth and final on the day, he crushed a ball out of center field and off of the building behind center. Simply put for Harrison, it just comes off different. He has the physical strength and athleticism to be a real power threat every at bat. Harrison also jumped on the mound and was outstanding. In the past he has struggled with control at times, but he did not have that problem Friday. The fastball sat 88-90 mph with life out of the hand and spun the breaking ball really well. His breaking ball sat 74-77 mph with 12/6 break and did not find many, if any, bats during his three innings of work. Harrison collected six strikeouts, including striking out the side in his first inning of work. Very impressive performance all the way around for the Longwood commit.

4/21/21

VA/DC Scout Blog

Harrison has a long athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame with projection left and plenty of room to add strength. The uncommitted 2022 has been on an offensive tear lately. Came into the day eight for his last eight with multiple home runs. Harrison had three hits on this day and sprayed it around the field. Single to right field, triple to right center, and a single through the left side. Harrison is a sub 6.8 runner with plenty of range and arm strength to play all three outfield positions. On the mound he has a long loose whippy arm action. Control over command right now and the ball jumps out of the hand. The fastball was 84-88 and touched 89 with carry through the zone. The breaking ball was 71-74. Feel was inconsistent, but it flashed hard late downer bite with some swing and miss tendencies. Has the makings of a legitimate out pitch, but will need to sure up the feel around the zone. Loud tools that are present in his actions and definite two-way potential.

3/13/21

VA/DC PreSeason All-State Central

Harrison is 6-0 with a lankier athletic 170 pound frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short smooth load back. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, uphill line drive swing path, strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a good approach working primarily gap to gap with extra base power present to all fields and more pop to his pull side, exit velocity was 97. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long loose very quick arm action, position velocity was 92. Ran a 6.78 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long free very quick arm action and higher effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a hard fall off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 83-86, touching 87, with downward angle and some late armside run. Curveball was 71-73 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 73-76 with good armspeed and some armside run to it.

7/21/20

TPG III

He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, some whip in his bat, strong at contact point with good extension through ball, slightly uphill swing path, showed a pull preference with the ability to work gap to gap, power present to pull side, exit velocity was 95. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, loose arm action, position velocity was 86. Ran a 6.93 60 yard dash.

2/16/20

Preseason All-State II

Harrison is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, slight load back. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, short and quick to the ball, some whip to his barrel, slightly uphill swing with strength at contact and extension through the ball, power potential is present, exit velocity was 88. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters slot with a long loose arm action, velocity was 89. Ran a 4.20 home to first. On the mound, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, stabs hand down before shortening up to a loose arm action that is very quick, some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 82-83, touching 84, with some late run to armside. Curveball had good armspeed and sharp 12/6 break at 70-72. Change-up had some armspeed and was 69-71 with some late run to it.

1/11/20

Athletic frame standing 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with long levers and some projection left to it. Athletic base hitting from the right side, stance starts and finishes square, and uses a simple step to stride. Hands started back, swing was short to the ball, and displayed hand speed getting through the zone. Slightly uphill path to the swing with some line drive tendency and flashed some power potential with a 89 mph exit velocity. Clean fluid approach and glove presentation in the outfield. Displayed a variety of footwork patterns on exchange that will allow him to make a variety of plays in the outfield. Clean loose arm working out of high three-quarter arm slot and plenty of arm strength posting a 87 mph outfield velocity. Ran a 6.93 60. Harrison is a twitchy athlete with a lot to like in a variety of places on the field. Has the potential to be a high level 2022 with plenty of room to add strength to an already solid frame. Fluid easy delivery on the mound. High repeatable leg lift, hips and shoulders slightly elevated, and lands on line. Whippy full arm action and throws from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball worked to both side of the plate and flashed occasional arm side run at 78-80 mph. Breaking ball was solid with 11/5 tight shape and sat at 65-66 mph with some swing and miss potential. Changeup was 70-71 mph.

5/15/19

VA/DC Scout Blog

Athletic makeup standing around 5-foot-10 with loose quick twitch ability. Played left field the majority of the game. Covers ground well and flashed above average arm strength. At the plate shows an open athletic stance and strides forward landing square. Hands first approach, but does finish lower half and stays behind barrel at contact. Shows the most projection on the mound. Had trouble with command today, but has a loose whippy arm. Fastball was 79-80 and got up to 82 a few times in his short outing. Definitely an arm to follow as he continues to grow and feel his way through his mechanics.

2/10/19

Preseason All-State I

Athletic projectable 5-foot-10, 155-pound frame that looks to add good weight and strength. Delivery has some pace and athleticism to it gathering over the rubber at a high consistent balance point. Lower half gets involved early, head stays centered moving down the mound with balance, and shoulders have slight elevation. Lands slightly closed at foot strike and falls to first base side post release. Arm circle has a slight hitch when it gets behind him, but showed plenty of arm speed getting it through at an over the top arm slot. Fastball showed carry through the zone at 80-84 mph. Curveball was tight and hard with 11/5 shape sitting at 67-69 mph. Changeup was 70-72 mph. Home-1st time was 4.26. Open narrow upright stance striding forward landing on line with a slight bat wrap on load with minimal hand movement. Hand and bat strength getting through the zone with uphill tilt and an exit velocity of 87 mph showing some potential for gap to gap power. Aggressive attacking the ball defensively and moved through catch with pace. Clean exchange throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot with quick arm speed and a positional velocity of 87 mph.
