Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Barrett is 5-11 with a big strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, leg lift stride on line, smooth load up and back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, goes straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, has some strength at contact point, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 73. In the infield, gets body behind ball and fields with a wider base and average hands. Works through the ball to a clean echange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, infield velocity was 77. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands open with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 77-79, with some late run to armside and a bit of sink. Curveball was 66-67 with good armspeed and gradual late 10/4 break to it.

Richmond Braves Workout
Side step rocker and gathered over the rubber with slight flexion in the back leg. Front leg could stand to stay closed longer while moving down the mound, lands slightly open, and has a short deceptive arm stroke. Throws from a low three-quarter arm slot and gets really nice arm side run on the fastball. The fastball sat 78-80 mph and tended to be up in the zone, but he got swings and misses there. Liked how the fastball played out of the hand and I think as he continues to grow into the body the delivery will clean up some and has the chance to develop into a solid arm.
