Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
84.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.

A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
6-foot, 190-pound strong proportional frame. Solid confident during batting practice, the left-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. (71.3 mph bat speed average). (21.0 mph hand speed average). Begins in a strong wide stance with a quick active load, then uses a short controlled stride. Bat speed was raw, used a level uphill swing plane and high good extension on his finish. Barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Fluid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 84 mph; has sure consistent hands, rhythmic in control feet, and a clean natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.7. Fluid on the mound, showed consistent arm speed with a high ¾ side arm angle and a longer arm action. Feel type pitcher who uses some effort. Has a low balance point with even shoulders. Lands square with recoil finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 77-80 mph and topped out at 81 mph; has slight sinking action and decent command. (Max spin 2139; Avg 1963). His 11/5 curveball (67-68) shows late action and feel command. (Max spin 1973; Avg 1933). Showed fading action and down in the zone command on his changeup (70-71).

Howell is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact point with some extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, some power present to his pull side, swing generates natural loft that way, exit velocity was 89. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 80. Ran a 7.44 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a multiple arm slots, primarily three-quarters with a hinged submarine mixed in, short free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Varies the timing in his delivery, shoulders are level and closed, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 75-78, touching 79, with some armside run and a bit of depth, armside run is heavy when he drops down. Curveball was 58-65 with some armspeed and gradual 11/5 break to it, pitch has more sweeping action from down low. Showed a change-up in warmups that had good armspeed and heavy fade from down low.
