NECBL: A 6-foot-7, 230-pound monster with a crossfire three-quarters delivery and lots of deception, Catlett fired 92-93 mph heat from the left side with a combination of arm-side run (-20 inches of horizontal break) and modest riding life (15-16 inches of induced vertical break). His fastball appears to play up in the zone thanks to his low vertical approach angle, giving him the appearance of pitching uphill. He also showed some feel for an 82-84 mph slider with tight spin in the 2500-2800 rpm range, locating it to the back foot of righthanded hitters to induce a few swing-and-misses. A third-year junior who did not pitch in 2022, Catlett went undrafted after posting a 7.48 ERA with 22 walks against 27 strikeouts in 27.2 innings this spring, but he is getting serious interest as a free agent this summer, especially since he just turned 21 last week. He appears to have turned the corner in the NECBL, going 3-0, 0.99 with 29 strikeouts against 12 walks in 27.1 innings for the Schooners.

Catlett worked 81-83, and touched 84 a few times early in the game. He held that velocity for all six innings. Gave up a tick in the slide step, sitting at 78-79. Arm is loose and quick, hides ball well and has a chance to add velocity as he continues to fill out his very lanky frame. Curveball had sharp 2/8 break and good armspeed, running 71-72. Commanded ball well, attacking the strike zone. Got stronger as the game went on and he settled in, struck out 6 of the last 10 hitters he faced, allowing just an infield single in that stretch. Catlett has a ton of upside as he continues to fill out.

Catlett is 6-6 and very lanky, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot from a short free arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders slightly closed, lands level with an athletic finish. Fastball was 78-82, touching 83, with armside run. With a leg lift he was 80-82, his slide step was 78. Fastball was up in the zone. Breaking ball was 72-74 with gradual 2/8 break and some armspeed, pitch was not tight but has potential as he adds spin to it. Catlett has a lot of upside and projection.
