8.4.18
Hierholzer, who committed to TCU just two days after the Future Games, was even sharper in his second outing of the week. Working from a ¾ slot, the right-hander showed high-end stuff with real sink and run on a heavy fastball at 87-91 mph. He also proved again that he can spin the ball, mixing in a 78 mph slider with 10/4 shape and depth, to go with a 72-74 mph curveball. He struck out the side, getting two punch-outs on breaking balls, and  another on a fastball. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, there is still more left in the tank.

3.2.18
Hierholzer features a 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame that still has plenty of room to fill out. His lower-¾ slot sometimes provides good arm-side run on his fastball, though not consistently. Hierholzer’s showed an 85-89 mph fastball in the 1st inning and worked consistently in the 83-86 mph range in his 2nd and 3rd innings. Hierholzer’s main secondary pitch was a slurvy breaking ball in the 68-72 mph range that he tended to get around, making it difficult for him to land as a strike. He also features a changeup but only threw it once. Only going three innings, Hierholzer found himself in multiple jams caused by his 6 walks and spotty early defensive play behind him, but was able to battle through to keep Lewisville from a big inning.

10.21.17 - Hierholzer has a high ceiling and a ton of upside with his projectable, long-limbed, sturdy frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. The right-hander works from an over the top slot with a long, clean arm swing and good hip turn down the mound with an athletic finish. Fastball jumped out of his hand at 86-88 mph with good angle, dropping a couple of times to 85 mph. Has good feel for three pitches, with a plus changeup that he throws with fastball arm speed and depth at 75-78 mph. Also shows the ability to spin a 12/6 curveball with good rotation and depth at 70-74 mph. A two-way player and right-handed hitter, Hierholzer showed good leverage and bat speed (90 mph exit velocity) during batting practice as he drove the ball deep to both gaps. He starts from a tall, balanced stance, simple-smooth load to get started as he triggers his hands back and lands into a short stride. Does a nice job of dropping the barrel on plane, creating lift with a high finish, and maintains balance throughout his swing. On the infield, Hierholzer moves with smooth rhythm and fundamental footwork, soft hands work well out front and has good feel for playing third base, creating good angles on balls to his back hand side. Accurate thrower with a long arm swing across the infield at 87 mph.
