SEASON PREVIEW

The Cavaliers return a loaded office and deep pitching staff from a team that won 25 games and won their district last season. Lake Travis has the horses on the mound to dominate an offense. 2019 RHP Jimmy Lewis is a 6-foot-6 LSU commit that is ranked No. 15 in TX, No. 81 Overall. Lewis can run his fastball up to 90 mph, has the stuff to be a front line starter, and should also impact the lineup with his bat. Unsigned Senior Blake Helton has a high ceiling with his 6-foot-5 frame and pitches in the mid 80's with command of three pitches. Add in Central Missouri commit 2018 RHP Harrison Babbitt and 2020 RHP Storm Hierholzer, and you have the makings of a very deep rotation. Heirholzer stand 6-foot-1, is ranked No. 17 in TX, No. 84 Overall, and can run his fastball into the upper-80's.

The lineup is just as strong for the Cavaliers, headlined by two big left-handed hitters. Bret Baty is back after suffering an injury at the end of last season. The Texas commit is ranked No. 9 in TX, No. 50 Overall, and was impressive in Jupiter this fall. 2019 OF Austin Plante burst onto the recruiting season this fall. The TCU commit is ranked No. 48 in TX, No. 240 Overall. Between Baty and Plante, the Cavs will have pop in the middle of the order. Jimmy Lewis and Storm Hierholzer could also add firepower to the offense. 2018 OF Dylan Weiss is a Pepperdine recruit will hold things down in the outfield, alongside two-way player 2018 P/OF Bryce Weisinger, a Texas A&M Corpus Christi commit and New Mexico JC commit Carlos Contreras. In the middle of the infield, the Cavs return shorstop Spencer Wionzek and Chase Ratliff. All-in-all, Lake Travis has the pitching staff, offensive skill, and defense to make a strong run in 2018.
