7/20/14 Abate displayed his 6.86 foot speed on defense, at the plate and on the base paths during the course of the three day event. The 5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitter went 4-for-11 with a double during game play while barreling the baseball consistently all weekend. He showcased a short, line drive approach during batting practice from a square stance with a toe tap stride. Abate displayed the ability to get good reads on the ball defensively and showed a strong, accurate 87 mph arm during defensive workouts.

6/18/14 Abate has the ability to affect the game with his foot speed every day. The 5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitter is adept at bunting and showcased a 6.86 60-yard dash. Abate starts from a square stance and displayed a short swing path wearing out the middle of the field in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 80 mph. Abate showcased good jumps, and precise routes to the baseball defensively with an 83 mph throwing arm.

4/5/14 Abate logged three bunt singles, two drags during which he posted home-to-1B times of 4.09 and 4.06, and a push when he got down the line in 3.94 seconds.
