PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle: Outfield Analysis

The summer rush of PBR events in Pennsylvania and West Virginia kicked into high gear in June with the PA Top Prospect Games (June 17-18), Shenandoah Valley College Prospect Showcase (June 23) and the PA Underclass Games (June 24-25) all offering college coaches a glimpse at some 175 prospects in a short period of time.
The month of July has also been a busy one with the Western PA Open ID Showcase (July 8) and the Eastern PA Open ID Showcase (July 9) offering an additional 75 prospects the ability to showcase their talents.
Prospects from six states recently assembled at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland for the PBR Mid-Atlantic Border Battle to complete the July schedule of events. Over the course of the next week we will be analyzing the prospects by position that made the trek to Maryland. Today we take a look at the outfielders in attendance.

2016 OF/RHP Jacob Burlingame (Horseheads HS, NY)
Burlingame went 6-for-11 in game play over four games. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitter showed good balance and a fluid swing from a square stance. He utilized a toe tap stride and loose hands to consistently barrel the baseball during batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. Burlingame displayed athletic actions in the outfield with an 87 mph arm and ran a 7.11 60-yard dash. The junior completed his impressive showing by sitting 77-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot while working three scoreless innings on the mound. Burlingame also commanded a 65 mph 11/5 breaking curveball and used a 71 mph changeup with near fastball arm speed effectively.
2015 OF Frankie Jezioro (Peters Township HS)
Jezioro displayed the skill set that makes him so projectable over the course of the three day event. His 6.62 foot speed and the ability to switch hit with some pop from both sides of the plate places him among the top uncommitted seniors in Pennsylvania. Jezioro showcased his ability to cover a large amount of territory in the outfield along with a 92 mph arm. The switch-hitter has a similar open stance with a high hands load from both sides of the plate. He has a bit of length on the left side of the plate but he also shows the greatest power potential as a lefty. Jezioro, ranked No. 28 in the PA Class of 2015, registered an 89 mph bat exit velocity and clocked a 4.04 to first base from the left hand box in game action.
2015 OF/RHP Andrew Zban (Huntington HS)
Zban is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound uncommitted senior that impressed at the PA Top Prospect Games in June and was equally as impressive at the Border Battle. The left-handed hitter went 4-for-7 in game action consistently barreling the baseball while showing the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Zban displayed athletic actions in the outfield with a well above average 91 mph arm. The right-handed thrower showed two-way abilities sitting 81-84 on the mound from a 3/4 arm slot with a quality 75 mph changeup that had significant arm side run. Zban completed his well-rounded performance by running a 6.91 60-yard dash. Currently ranked No. 10 in the WV Class of 2015, Zban is likely to draw considerable interest moving towards the early signing period in November.

2015 OF Parker Abate (Malvern Prep)
Abate displayed his 6.86 foot speed on defense, at the plate and on the base paths during the course of the three day event. The 5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitter went 4-for-11 with a double during game play while barreling the baseball consistently all weekend. He showcased a short, line drive approach during batting practice from a square stance with a toe tap stride. Abate displayed the ability to get good reads on the ball defensively and showed a strong, accurate 87 mph arm during defensive workouts.
2017 OF/RHP Jordan Art (Lakeland HS)
Art is a 5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed hitter that showcased loose hands and the ability to stay inside the baseball from an open stance during his round of batting practice. The sophomore barreled the baseball consistently with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Art displayed athletic actions in the outfield and an accurate 74 mph arm. The righty sat 73-75 from a high 3/4 arm slot from the mound.
2015 OF Eric Duran (Pine-Richland HS)
Duran is a physical 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed hitter that showcased the ability to drive both gaps with a leg lift stride from a square stance. The junior barreled the baseball consistently to all fields during a solid round of batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. Duran displayed an accurate 81 mph arm from the outfield with a bit of a short-arm delivery and ran a 6.96 60-yard dash.
2015 OF Alex Farina (Pius X)
Farina impressed in the outfield taking precise routes to the baseball and covering a lot of ground. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound uncommitted senior displayed the ability to play the baseball on the move with an accurate 77 mph arm. Farina went 4-for-10 in game play and barreled the baseball to all fields during batting practice. The right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance with a high hands load and utilizes a leg lift stride to create barrel whip. Farina registered an 80 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.18 60-yard dash.
2015 OF/RHP Ardon Fryer (Freinds' Central HS)
Fryer went 3-for-10 with a double during game action from the right side of the plate. The uncommitted senior displayed a flat swing path with no stride while barreling the baseball to all fields during his round of batting practice. Fryer showed the ability to play through the baseball in the outfield with an accurate 79 mph arm. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound righty sat 74-77 from a high 3/4 arm slot while commanding a 66 mph curveball and a 73 mph changeup on the mound.
2017 OF/RHP Maxx Harpalani (Pine-Richland HS)
Harpalani went 2-for-10 in game action from a slightly open stance with a high hands load. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound sophomore barreled the baseball routinely to all fields during batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Harpalani displayed athletic actions and an accurate 78 mph arm from the outfield. The righty worked two scoreless innings sitting 75-77 from a high 3/4 arm slot while also commanding a 65 mph 11/5 breaking curveball.
2016 OF/RHP Cole Horew (Chartiers Valley HS)
Horew ran a 6.90 60-yard dash and flashed an 87 mph arm from the outfield. The 6-foot, 165-pound junior went 2-for-10 at the plate in game action. Horew starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a lift and replace stride to create a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. The right-handed hitter displayed the ability to barrel the baseball routinely to all fields during batting practice. Horew sat 81-82 from a high 3/4 arm slot while commanding a 73 mph curveball during a scoreless inning of work on the mound.
2015 OF Scott Kuczala (Wyomissing Area HS)
Kuczala ran a 6.89 60-yard dash and flashed a strong 86 mph arm from the outfield while showing the ability to go get the baseball defensively. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-10 in game play while displaying the ability to consistently barrel the baseball to all fields during a solid round of batting practice. Kuczala showcased a square stance with a toe tap stride and registered a bat exit velocity of 80 mph.
2016 OF/3B Jared Urban (Coatesville HS)
Urban is a 5-foot-9, 160-pound left-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance and strides closed with a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Urban showed the ability to barrel the baseball consistently to all fields during batting practice while consistently staying inside the baseball. The junior showed fluid actions defensively with an accurate 80 mph arm and ran a 7.13 60-yard dash.
