A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
Physical: Lean, uber athletic 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with dynamic two-way abilities and advanced feel for his body in all phases of the game. 7.37 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH. Balanced, slightly closed stance with the hands showing quick rhythm at the shoulder. Utilized a barrel tip at the top of the load coupled with a toe-tap stride to initiate a smooth, slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Impressive swing mechanics overall and showed the ability to turn the bat head around early allowing the hands to match pitch-plane in the early stages of the stroke. Just looked “hitterish” as he continuously found hard barrels regardless of quadrant pitched into, lived in the LCF gap with athleticism in the box / adjustability in the lower half. One of the better hitters in game action with a multitude of extra base hits and loud contact, recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 86 mph according to Trackman Baseball / 323 foot maximum batted ball distance / 42% line drive rate during his round. Defensively: The outfielder featured natural instincts during defensive evaluations coupled with active footwork on the approach, fielded off of his right foot with repeatable, quick transfers and an accurate, high ¾ throwing arm from his position. Repeatedly stayed behind the ball hit in the air and could cover enough ground to patrol from gap to gap stealing hits away. Solid defender overall, OF - 77 mph Pitching: LHP - Started from the middle-right side of the rubber, side rocker step with a medium-high leg lift at the top of the stack showing slight hip coil, landed directional with smooth mechanics throughout / high level feel in the delivery, got over the front side releasing out of a fluid, high ¾ slot. FB ranged from 77-79 mph with low effort and an upwards of 2166 spin per Trackman Baseball, small arm side run. Mixed in a sharp and well commanded 66-70 mph CB with 1/7 shape and swing and miss ability / diced hitters up with a tight 68-70 mph SL with a max of 2200 spin. Countered with high command of a wipeout 73-74 mph CH with fade and deception at the plate. Deals on the mound with ability to throw any pitch in any count, some of the better polish we’ve seen at this age in some time..
6/29/20
Physical: 5-foot-10, 155 pounds; strong, athletic. 7.28 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even wide stance; short take back with high elbow load and bat tip, controlled lift and replace stride. Effortless strong lower half with moderate length. Middle to pull side with developing power; peak Trackman exit velocity of 88 MPH. Defensively: Low to the ground athletic setup; plays low to the ground with active fluid footwork. Works through the ball for smooth transfer; standard 3/4 arm slot. OF - 74 MPH. Pitching: Glove side setup, up-tempo repeatable delivery, on-line stride with downhill controlled finish. Clean arm action, standard 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 79MPH, 77-79 MPH. FB has good spin with some carry, plays pretty true. CB: 67-70 MPH. CB has 10-4 shape, good tight break with depth & sweep.
1/06/18
Defensively, in OF overall advanced for age athletic actions were present. Routes to baseball are direct with confidence in playing through ball. Yarussi plays ball off glove side foot, stays in line and follows throws. At secondary position of first base athleticism was again evident in range and movements around the bag. Hands are soft and equal comfort was shown to both forehand and backhand sides.
Swing is initiated from neutral set up with utilization of knee to knee leg kick and stride staying neutral. Yarussi works well away from hands achieving solid separation. There is balance, rhythm and solid swing plane. Considerable length is present. Overall mechanics are good for young developing 12 y/o.
On mound Yarussi works out of a mid 3/4 arm slot with good balance, rhythm and a long loose arm action. He stays in line and repeats delivery very well. FB sat 59-62 with arm side run. CB at best had 12-6 shape with late break and moderate depth. CH lacked separation but was commanded well with consistent sinking action.
