MLB Draft Combine: Extra slender-framed. Loose, athletic movements. Longer actioned delivery with higher effort from three-quarter release point. Will need to be tightened up in pro ball. Control over command type. Lively 2-seam FB 90-92 with arm side sink/run. 4-seam 94-95. Diving SL 83 mph at 2650 rpm. CH 83-85 third pitch.

At 6-foot-6, 185 pounds, Madden has a tall, loose, athletic body. Electric stuff, ball flies off his fingertips. 93-97 mph FB features plus-plus life with hard, late tail and sink. Throws quality fastballs in the zone and misses barrels. Tight, sharp slider has hard diving action at 82-84. Feel for 84-87 changeup, thrown with good arm speed, deception and hard late sink. Throws nothing straight. Repeats delivery well and throws strikes. The Alabama recruit could be scary when he gets a feel for his release point. With his potential for commanding three plus pitches, Madden has the stuff to be a top-of-the-rotation guy at the Major League level.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander coming off Tommy John surgery, Madden has a loose, live body and good arm speed, producing an explosive 93-97 mph fastball with late tail and sink that nets him easy whiffs. He complements his heater with a tight, sharp, late-breaking slider with diving action. Madden also has a good feel for throwing a changeup with deception and sink and throws plenty of strikes thanks to a delivery that he repeats well. In addition, he's a good athlete who repeats his delivery well, giving him the potential to have both control and command.

6-foot-4, 160-pound South Carolina commit. The long, lanky junior came into the event uncommitted but announced his college choice that evening. Madden has consistently been up to 90 mph during the summer and fall but sat 85-88 on this day out of a high 3/4 arm slot. With his commitment out of the way Madden will now be able to concentrate on adding strength to his projectable frame. His curveball showed tight 11/5 rotation at 72-75 while his changeup at 75-78 showed some sink at fastball arm speed.10.28.18 -

Top uncommitted pitcher in the PA 2020 class. Long, lanky, athletic body type and projectable 6-foot-4, 160 pound frame. Controlled side-step wind-up into a tall, compact balance point. Clean hands separation with quick down to out lower half drive. Long, loose arm action and fast arm speed throwing from a high three-quarter slot with regular effort. Struggled to command the fastball at 85-88 mph; however, showed great command and feel for his off-speed. Breaking ball sat 73-76 mph with nice tight spin and sharp 11/5 and 10/4 action.
8/09/18
Long, loose arm on 6-foot-4, 160-pound frame. Sat 87-88 out of a high 3/4 arm slot while touching 90 mph. Curveball at 73/75 lacked depth on this date. Changeup is thrown with good sell at 79-81. Repeats well and showed a feel for all three pitches. Room to add significant strength to his very projectable frame.
