Ohio State commit, Kade Kern once again proved why he is one of the more dynamic talents in the state. The OF out of Archbold ran a 6.82 on a typically slow track, showed 90 mph arm strength to home plate and also topped out at 100 mph off the tee. To go along with the measurables, Kern also took one of the louder BPs of the day. A right-hander with an explosive swing that generated pop only second to Robinson on the day. Very impressive all-around performance from Kern.

One of the more toolsy players in the state’s 2020 class. An uber athletic kid with a strong arm and ton of bat speed at the plate. Skill set in the outfield plays in all three spots, looking comfortable and athletic out there with a huge arm. At the plate he has an intent driven swing, and tools are dynamic. Earned an invite to the Future Games/he has a chance to put himself into conversation with some of the top OFs in the midwest/country with a strong showing there.
5-foot-11, 175 well-built outfielder displayed a powerful arm with an 89 mph position velocity. On top of his arm strength, Kern had a good glove fielding without issues other than needing to improve on working to the side of the ball as he attacks it. He’s athletic enough to make that adjustment with his quick feet as he moves well already, but that will come as he develops further in his young career. Doesn’t get cheated at the plate. Looks to damage and has the natural tools to do so. Should be a high follow in 2018.
A right-handed hitter that starts in a wider setup. Moves his hands to launch during his leg lift load. Strong kid with above average bat speed. Path is level with whip through contact. Swing is efficient and fluid. Gap to gap pop presently. In the outfield he plays under control and approaches the baseball with quick footwork. Plays through the ball well with above average ball skills. Transitions smoothly into his throws. Throws were on target with carry.
5-foot-9, 140-pound prospect. Impressive on the mound. Throws from high ¾ slot with long arm action. Regular effort to his repeatable delivery. Fastball showed good run at 75-77 mph. Breaking ball showed effective 12/6 break down in the zone at 58-62 mph. Also uses good hand speed on a 66-67 mph changeup. Showed athletic actions in the infield. Short arm action through high ¾ slot. Top velocity of 71 mph with some carry to his throws. Average hands and feet. Balanced stance using a small leg lift. Showed a short swing through the zone while consistently barreling the ball.
