CNY ASG (September 30, 2018)
Lean, athletic frame at 6-foot, 160-pounds. Offensively – Narrow, athletic set-up with some knee bend. Controlled leg lift to load before starting forward stride. Maintains a balanced, athletic posture throughout swing. Rotational type swing that uses a lot of core and lower half. Strong hands at point of contact. Aggressive finish with full hip rotation. Flashed ability to lift ball pull-side. Defensively – Aggressive actions in OF. Moves with a quick tempo when tracking the baseball. Uses a high exchange to transition into throws. Long, whippy arm action with low ¾ release point. Uses crow hop to create momentum on throws. Pitching – Simple delivery with slight hesitation at leg lift. Strides across body to create a considerable amount of cross action in delivery. Creates tough angle for RHH. Needs extra effort to get out to release point but it seems to work for him. Low ¾ arm slot with long, loose arm action.
July 2018

Lean, wiry frame at 6-foot-0 160 pounds; features a low ¾ slot with some serious crossfire. Sat 79-81 MPH in the first two innings with a tight sweeping breaking ball at 65-68 MPH. Projectable frame that will hold more velocity; mechanics can be inconsistent but once it comes together expect a jump in the consistency department.

June 25-27, 2018 (NYS Games)

Average frame, lean build with projection as he matures. Strong enough arm for the position with carry to the bag. High Leg kick in the box, starts with hands high, no load but powers hands inside the ball producing above average power. 85 mph exit velocity showing some bat-speed projection.

May 2018

In the second game of a 3 game series to decide the section 4 Class A title, Chermak (R/R) started for Vestal, going 3 innings, scattering 3 hits, 4 R, and 3 ER, against a strong Union Endicott team. He threw 76 pitches, 48 for strikes and had 5 K, 3 BB, and 2 HB. Chermak used a fastball that ran 79-81 and a curveball that was consistently 66-67.  At the plate in the two games, Chermak was 3 for 5 with 3 RBI.

May 2018

Chermak used a fastball that ran 79-81 and a curveball that was consistently 66-67.  Chermak effectively varied his delivery timing to keep batters off balanced all game.

April 2018
Chermak (R/R) performed well at the plate for Vestal, going 6 for 13 with 1 2B, 1 BB, 4 R, and 3 RBI. The 6 foot 150 pound CF covers ground well and anchors the Vestal outfield. On the mound, he uses a fastball that ran 79-81 MPH and a curveball that was consistently 66-67.  He threw 4 innings giving up 3 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 K, and 2 BB to get the win against Binghamton.

NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Slender 6-foot, 145-pound outfielder with a projectable body, ran a 7.38/60. Offensively - short, compact swing, keeps hands back and brings bat through on a level path, makes consistent barrel contact, comfortable driving to middle third of the field for an exit velocity of 86 MPH, engagement of the lower body will produce increased strength.  Defensively  - fundamentally sound, with economic use of movement, balanced, agile footwork, loose arm action with an outfield velocity of 78 MPH.
Southern Tier Sluggers Workout

Chermak, a 2019 right-handed hitting outfielder/RHP, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs 142 pounds, ran a 7.46 60, which was slightly quicker (0.04) than last event.
Offensively- Starts from an upright square balanced lower half with the hands above the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is 45-degrees. Gets into the launch phase of the swing with a slight shift of weight to the back side while the lead foot is slightly elevated and minimally strides forward as the hands are loaded straight back getting slightly outside the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat maintaining the 45-degree angle with some wrap towards the pitcher. Hands stayed compact and quick to the ball, during batting practice, as well displayed the ability to drive the ball well from the pull side line to the opposite field gap. Registered and impressive exit velocity of 86 MPH on the day. Defensively- Approached the ball with aggressive but controlled movements. Fields the ball of the glove side of the body, transferring the ball from the center of the body chest height with a longer circular arm motion, typical of an outfielder. Throws showed good strength as well as accuracy, registering an arm velocity of 80 MPH on the day, which was an increase of 14 MPH from last event. Pitching- Starts from the center of the rubber with both hands held in the center of the body chest height. Gets to the gathered phase of the delivery with a moderate step, with the lead foot, to the first base line while the pivot foot remains center rubber while the lead knee gets waist high and hands remain center and together. Sticks the landing with the lead leg striding across the body and lead arm is dropped well below the waist. The fastball, thrown from a high ¾ arm slot, topped out at 76 MPH, staying mostly up in the zone due to the lack of extension on the release. With an tighter front side the fastball command should improve as well as gain the ability to add 4-5 MPH. The curveball, showing some promise as well with a few minor mechanical adjustments, showed 11-to-5 shape with loose rotation as well as topping out at 64 MPH. The changeup, showing good differential from the fastball at 65 MPH, showed good depth but would also benefit from the release point being able to extend further.
Futures Showcase (February 28, 2015)

Shawn stands a thin 5-foot-11, 125-pounds.  Showed good athleticism for his age; 7.5 60 yd dash. Defensively-  In the field he throws from a mid 3/4 arm angle.  Long loose motion.  Needs to learn to be more aggressive, fields the ball in front of his glove side foot, and crow hops to gain ground.  Arm strength was 66 mphOffensively- At the plate he start slightly open, and gets back to even with load.  Starts with his hands forward.  Bat path is level.  Lets the ball get deep.  Will gain bat speed/power by learning how to transfer weight.  Pitching- On the mound he start hands high, with a side step to a belt level leg lift.  Good balance.  Has a slight wrap, throws across his body. Should work on lengthening his stride.  Athletic kid.  FB was 67 mph.
