A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Proportional frame at 6-foot-2, 175-pounds. Ran a 7.47 60 yard dash. Offensively – Wide, balanced set-up with relaxed hands. Lines up square to the pitcher. Low leg lift to get into forward stride. Level, compact swing with quick wrists. Stayed inside of the ball and consistently generated line drive contact during BP. Remained balanced thru finish. Exit velocity was 77 MPH. Defensively – Light on his feet at SS. Maintains balance while moving laterally. Receives ball in wide, athletic base. Soft glove hand. Long, loose arm action from low ¾ slot. Arm strength was 75 MPH. Pitching – Simple delivery with deliberate tempo. Gathers weight on backside during leg lift and maintains balance while getting into stride. Long, loose arm action from ¾ slot. Aggressive finish with some effort at release point. FB sat 78-80 MPH and topped at 81 MPH. Mixed in a sweeping CB at 69-90 MPH and a knuckleball at 75 MPH.
Premium size standing 6-foot-2, 170-pounds with room for his frame to develop. Sound defensively, active lower half, arm strength was 76 mph from a quick release. Simple set-up in the box. Level swing as it gets into the zone. Consistent contact type hitter with an 83 mph exit velo.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Up 10-pounds since Sept. Prince checks in at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with a lanky wiry frame able to handle more positive weight, shows signs of athleticism running a 7.25 60-yard dash. At the plate, upright stance, even approach with loose hands slightly low on setup, barrel upright. On the pitch he uses a leg lift with minimal stride, hands go direct to the ball, slight uphill path, fluid throughout swing path with full extension. 82 mph exit velocity (up two since Sept.) with more in the tank to come. Defensively, gets to the ball quick with a wide base, fields the ball out in front with a clean transfer to his high 3/4 release point. Arm strength was 77 mph (up two since Sept.) and expect the WNY MIF to increase that number by the summer. High motor defender to keep an eye on this spring/summer.
WNY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)
Long and lean frame at 6-foot-1 160 pounds with athletic actions. Offensively- Even setup with hands working back just below the shoulder; slight knee lift into a forward stride for timing. Aggressive swings with a relatively short swing path into the zone; high two-handed finish. Line drive/flyball results with a hint of power potential. Exit velocity off the tee was 80 MPH. Defensively- Demonstrated great lateral range, eating up ground with long strides. Stays active to the ball and through his breakdown; hands work well out in front with a some softness. Accurate arm that held it's carry at 75 MPH across the diamond. High ceiling for Prince as he settles into his frame.
