Dynamic 6-foot-3, 202-pound RHP, ran a 7.33/60. Offensively - Effective load, appropriate pre-pitch movement, short to the ball with quick hands, keeps bat on level path through the strike zone, full extension with upper cut after contact for an exit velocity of 93 MPH, repeatable motion, stays middle third. Displayed some above average pull side pop. Defensively - fundamentally sound, poised and confident, soft hands, smooth transfer, accurate arm at 82 MPH. Could be more active/aggressive with footwork to and through the ball. Pitching - Uses height to get downward plane on 88-89 MPH fastball that touched 90 MPH, positive hip tilt at the balance point, finishes with full extension, maintain motion and delivery on curveball at 76-78 MPH. Frame and ease of arm support additional velocity.
Fenlong stands from a burly 6-foot-3 frame, 202-pounds with a strong lower half, with thick broad shoulders. Although he did workout at the plate and shortstop, showing some bat-strength during BP, his next-level projection is without question from the mound. Pitching - He uses a side-step with some tempo, knee lift above his belt-line, his upper body stays crouched over his center of gravity before driving forward. He uses a long arm-action with an 85 percent body length stride (would benefit from a more aggressive stride), releases the ball from a high-3/4 - over the top slot with some body lean towards the first-base side. Arm-strength on the fastball sat 87-88 mph with signs of more velocity to come, when he stays on top with his arm there is downward angle to his fastball. Curveball sat 73-75 with hard late 11/5 shape, uses fastball handspeed with average spin. Overall, Fenlong shows signs of premium projection on the mound, hailing from the North-Country of Upstate New York.
