8/01/22

Cape Cod: Pumped 91-93 mph heat from a whippy low three-quarters arm action, with plenty of giddy-up on a heater that spins into the 2400s. He showed very good feel for a big sweeping slider at 80-82 with tight spin in the 2600s

1/27/19

Campbell commit.  6 foot 3, 175-pound lanky build with projection left.  Hits from the right side in a balanced, athletic setup with higher hands above his back shoulder.  Small load with his hands and weight working back with a short stride.  Fluid swing with feel for the barrel.  Hands work throughout the swing with average bat speed.  Found a lot of barrels during front toss with a simple approach looking to drive the ball gap to gap.  Exit velocity recorded at 86 mph.  Plays with good rhythm on the infield and confident hands.  Funnels to the midsection after catch with clean exchanges and life to his throws across the diamond topping at 84 mph.  Recorded a 4.07 in the 30-yard dash, 4.94 in the 5-10-5, and 8-9 in the standing broad jump.
Easy effort in a very controlled early season bullpen.  Fastball 81-84, touched 85 as he got rolling.  Hard out of the hand with late sink.  Attacks the zone.  Breaking ball has good action at 71-73.  Sharp tilt, missing down if at all.  Change-up gives him three pitches in the arsenal at 72-73.   Change flashed late fade when in the zone.  Controlled over the rubber with a simple rocker and leg kick.  Long arm action to a slot that seems to drop as the hand is cocked, to a ¾ release.  On-line, square, and athletic through foot strike and finish.  Good extension.  Quick arm and frame suggest a high ceiling.

8/08/18

Broad shoulders and a lanky build at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.  Wiry, strength can continue to be added to the frame. Potential dual player whose athleticism has a chance to play on the infield and on the mound.  7.16 laser timed 60 yard dash. Confident in the box with high barrel awareness. Right handed hitter balanced and tall with high hands and a flat bat in his setup.  Quiet, uses a leg kick to push his weight back. Weight gets centered and is not pressed back all the way on each pitch. Average stride and aggressive movement to the front side with good back side action.  Strong with bat speed through the zone. Good leverage. Exit velocity of 85 mph off the barrel. Easy, active feet with confidence in his hands. Works with ease to create angle and the hop he wants. Funnels to the midsection.  Quick, clean, athletic exchange. Strong arm with carry and accuracy across the diamond. Positional velocity of 82 mph across the diamond.

8/09/17

Intriguing athlete with a high ceiling ahead.  A thin 6-foot-2, 160 pounds with length and long levers.  Ran a 7.39 sixty, showing a decent burst off the line.  Arm worked up to 83 across the diamond.  Showed a feel for multiple arm swings and athleticism in the release based on the play.  High-3/4 slot showed accuracy and carry.  Easy catch-ability with quick feet and soft hands.  Athletic throughout the defensive play showed quick, clean exchanges.  Offensively works from an athletic base on the right side, loading back with rhythm.  Short stride and average bat speed work with a short, level swing, staying gap-to-gap.  Looseness in the body, showed an advanced feel for the barrel.  Strength is needed but the frame is ready to handle the addition.  Exit velocity peaked at 79.
On the bump the fastball ranged 79-82.  Arm was not as fluid as on the infield, with a 2-piece arm swing from the wind-up that cleaned a little in the stretch.  Change-up mimics fastball hand speed at 73-76 with some arm side action and around the zone.  The breaking ball was 11/5 shape at 67-68 but tends to be a little loose.

On the mound, the arm is really quick through the release with the fastball ranging 85-88.  When the front side is on line, the fastball has sink, heavy at times. When the front side is early and open there is run, early out of the hand.  Good feel for a sinking change-up. Throws it with hand speed, sitting 76-80. Breaking ball has short, late 11/5 tilt at 73-75. Around the zone with all three pitches.  Little choppy with his rhythm through the delivery, staying level, with an average leg kick. On-line with a closed toe at foot strike. Long arm action works to the top with a position of strength and high-¾ release.
