Cape Cod- McKeehan sports a high waist and medium build with a strong lower half. Working with a high effort delivery out of a high slot, the lefty gets decent extension while striding slightly towards the lefty batter's box, creating a tough angle for hitters but also complicating his ability to consistently execute his offerings. The three pitch mix includes an 89-91 mph fastball (2200 rpm) along with an 83-85 mph change-up with arm-side fade and a low-80s slider with short tilted action. All three offerings work well out of the same slot, and when McKeehan is clicking the whole arsenal tunnels well with three different finishes off of the same plane. In my viewing, he was most effective working backwards off the slider and change-up, using the fastball as a finisher both up and away in the zone. The southpaw punched out six in three innings and was on point for most of his relief appearance. The few times he lost his release, however, he continually spiked the slider and pushed the changeup, ultimately allowing the Harwich lineup to sit fastball and square him up for consecutive hard hit balls. While McKeehan's stuff isn't particularly overpowering, he's more than capable of missing advanced bats with it thanks to pitch plane deception across all three offerings. His execution, however, limits the overall utility of the profile out of the pen, as there just isn't enough consistency to project to leveraged innings at the next level. He stands as a potential Day 3 target who could bump his stock significantly with more consistent execution next spring.

05.23.18
Average build with some athleticism in a 6-foot-2, 180 pound build.  Frame can continue to handle added strength. Better than average arm speed with a long swing to an over-the-top slot.  Some effort fighting for the slot on fastball but seems more relaxed, and quicker, on breaking ball and change-up. Delivery rhythm can get choppy, but he stays level, working in-line and landing slightly across his body.  Fastball is straight at 80-83, around the zone. Breaking ball is sharp, late, and with depth. 12/6 tilt at 67-69, it could become a power breaking ball as arm speed continues to improve. Change-up arm speed is near that of fastball with the pitch sitting 75-77.  Occasional fade and shows a feel for the zone with it.

08.10.17
Straight line build at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds.  Slow tempo in the delivery, relying on arm speed to come as the foot strikes the ground.  Clean arm works long and loose to a high-3/4 slot.  Fastball up to 82, sitting 79-81 with run.  Ball jumped on hitters, creating swing and miss throughout the outing.  Breaking ball is hard and shar with mature 1/7 shape out of the same window as fastball.  Ranged 64-65, acting as a put away pitch throughout the outing.  Showed feel for throwing it for a strike but better feel for expanding with it with two strikes.  Flashed a couple of change-ups at 68, but it is a distant third pitch right now.  Average leg kick, stays tall on the back side, working with some rhythm in the body and level shoulders.  Lands on-line creating average to average-plus extension.

05.14.17
Some length in the limbs on the 6-foot-1, 175 pounder.  Lefty’s fastball ranged 76-80 with arm side run, while pounding the strike zone.  Long arm action, worked with some ease to a high-3/4 slot.  Choppy rhythm, but repeated as he works with level shoulders and on line throughout the delivery.  Curveball sat 66-67 with late 1/7 tilt.  Around the zone and consistently down, the breaking ball was thrown with fastball hand speed.  Change up is the third pitch but has some quality.  Straight with look-alike hand speed, the change ranged 73-76.  Strike thrower with all three and some space to his ceiling.  A decent athlete, ran his sixty in 7.33

Defensively in the OF, showed a quick arm and carry while his arm speed measured at 77mph from the outfield.  Some accuracy from the long arm action and high-3/4 slot.  Fluid and aggressive through the ball.  Left handed hitter ran a 7.33 and flashed an exit velocity of 82 off the barrel.  Balanced setup, loads back without a stride.  Load is timed with the pitcher, at times late with the big movement back.  Pull conscious swing set slightly to uphill.
