2022 Donavan Canterberry closed out the victory for Team Michigan working the lower half of the zone sitting 80-81 mph. Showed a 68-69 mph curve with some depth and a deceptive change up 70-71 mph keeping hitters off balance. Showed plus actions in the field with soft hands. Played top notch defense up the middle all weekend.
Swing: Sets up with a balanced approach at the plate. Shows a quiet approach and small front leg pick up swinging with a top hand release. Drove the ball consistently with a wood bat. Young prospect with high upside. 87 mph exit velocity.
Fielding: Advanced approach in the field stays low in the field working through the ball. Soft hands and a fast release from a 3/4 arm angle.
Mechanics: Calm motion on the hill taking a small step left moving to his pivot and letter high
balance point. Throws from a high 3/4 arm angle.
Fastball: Easy arm action with arm side run in the zone. Shows good command of the pitch sitting 79-81 mph.
Curve: Sweeping action on the breaking ball down and away from a right hand hitter 65-67 mph.
Change up: Sinking action on his 68-70 mph change up.
6-foot, 156 athletic built young prospect has wide shoulders that you can see filling out over the years. At the plate sets up with a balanced stance keeping his hands back swinging with a short compact swing. Barrels the ball consistently showing power potential down the line. Gap to gap type hitter. In the field moves fluidly through the ball catching out front throwing with good carry. On the mound repeats his delivery each time throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle with ease. Fastball sat 78-80 mph with arm side run. Early breaking curve with an 11/5 shape 63-65 mph along with a straight change up 65-67 mph.
