6-foot, 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. Ran a 4.39 down the line on his dig to first base. The hands and approach in the infield are excellent. His defensive skill set is very advanced at a young age. The feet remain active and he can pick it. Threw 80 mph across the diamond out of a short arm path. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 84 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot gains ground as the ball approaches the plate. The swing is clean and the hands are free. The body needs added strength, but the skill set is advanced at a young age.
Tee Exit Velocity- 84 mph
INF Velocity- 80 mph
JUNIOR FUTURES 5-foot-10, 135 pounds, wiry athlete still in early stages of physical development. He ran a 7.66 60-yard dash though this is a number that will continue to progress. Easy movements with some quick twitch actions visible during infield work. Visible polish in his game at short, with soft hands and good lateral movement. Works from a high ¾ slot naturally but has feel for when to drop lower to speed up double play transfers and throws to first depending on fielding position. Actions were clean and crisp. Can stab a bit on backhand but the glove tracks the ball well. Should keep his middle infield profile based on defensive skills as he reaches the high school level. As a right-handed hitter, McGee starts the swing from a slightly open stance and his feet shoulder width apart. The hands start high before dropping to the chest, which triggers his leg kick. BP rounds showed an up-the-middle approach to hitting with consistent line drives. Good bat-to-ball skills, with added strength could be a consistent gap-to-gap hitter at physical maturity. His tee exit velocity was measured at 76 MPH. An early middle infield follow in next year’s freshman class.
