4/07/15

4/7/15 GAME NOTES: Watson was 90-94 throughout his seven innings of work, even bumping a couple of 95's. He showed the ability to control the zone with all pitches, keeping hitters off balance with his 81-84 mph slider and 78-79 mph curveball.

5/16/14

The 6-foot-2, 195 pound righty possesses a projectable frame with a fastball consistently sitting in the upper 80's to low 90's, up to 92 mph.  Fastball shows good downhill plane. Projects to continue to add velocity to his fastball.  Has the ability to throw his off-speed in any count for a strike.  Throws a mid-70's curveball with 11-to-5 shape and a slider/cutter in the low 80's with good movement.  Will also mix in a changeup around 80 mph.  Watson possesses good pitchability with an easy delivery and is one of Indiana's 2015 arms likely to be drafted next June.

8/08/13

MWFG: Watson has a good, strong frame at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. He sat 88-89 mph in his first inning and ranged from 85-89 over the two-inning stint. He also mixed in a curveball at 73-74 mph. Earlier this summer at the Area Code Workout Watson 88-90, touching 90 on several occasions.  Watson was the overall MVP of the 2013 MWFG.  During the pregame workout at the MWFG showed a plus arm from the OF at 92 mph.

2/23/13

6-foot-2, 185 pound sophomore is a special talent. The arm is long, loose, and quick. His fastball was up to 90 at the event and sat 86-88.     Shows inconsistencies going from the windup to the stretch with velocity. He showed plus feel for his sharp breaking ball at 72-73, His change-up showed sink at 76-78. Watson cemented himself as one of the top right handed arms in the Midwest for the 2015 class and was overall the best pitcher at the event.

2/25/12

Watson is a 6’1”, 175 lb. freshman with good athleticism.  In the field he shows a strong arm with good carry at 83 mph. He displays plus defensive actions with soft hands and a clean exchange.  He moves well and plays through the ball.  At the plate Watson has a short stride with good balance.  At times his swing can be a little stiff, but shows he can get to extension and produce good pop.  On the mound Watson is advanced for a freshman.  He possesses good rhythm and timing in his delivery.  His fastball is consistently 80-82 mph with arm side run.  He shows an advanced 11/5 breaking ball at 70-71 mph along with a 72-73 mph change up with some sink action.

Currently a top 10 ranked player in the 2015 class, Watson is a highly projectable 2-way player at the next level (IF/RHP).  In the field he looks the part displaying a solid glove with advanced actions.  His feet are heavy at the SS position, but moves well laterally, showcasing good range.  Projects higher at 3B.  He plays through the ball and shows arm strength across the diamond at 83 mph with life.  At the plate uses a balanced setup with a smooth load.  Possesses a quick bat and is very aggressive in his approach.  Tends to rotate out, but showcases tons of juice with projectable power.  Watson is a high follow in the 2015 class.  Also showcased well in the OF where he showed off his arm strength at 90 mph.
