INDIANAPOLIS---The 11th ranked Lawrence North Wildcats blanked conference foe North Central Tuesday evening 8-0. In front of a dozen or so MLB scouts, Vanderbilt signee Nolan Watson was masterful on the mound. The right-hander pitched a complete game shutout allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out 11.
Watson was 90-94 throughout his seven innings of work, even bumping a couple of 95's. He showed the ability to control the zone with all pitches, keeping hitters off balance with his 81-84 mph slider and 78-79 mph curveball.
The Wildcats' offense was led by Junior 3B Coby Taylor who went 2-4 with a double and a grand slam, finishing his night with 4 RBI. Junior SS Tyler Hofmann was 3-3 with an RBI. Other contributors to the Wildcats' offense included senior Skyler Ramberger (3-3), Justin Reed (2-4) and Josh Sampoll (1-3, RBI).
Both teams will meet again Wednesday evening at North Central.
