Indiana Draft Preview

By Phil Wade
Indiana Executive Director

The 2015 Major League Draft takes place June 8-10. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

Even with a few prospects falling victim to injuries, Indiana’s 2015 class is very strong. RHPs Ashe Russell (Cathedral HS, IN) and Nolan Watson (Lawrence North HS, IN) have good, projectable frames and aren’t likely to last beyond the second round. Before an offseason ACL injury and Tommy John, RHP Bryan Hoeing (Batesville HS, IN) belonged in that conversation too. The rest of the class shouldn’t be ignored either with several prospects having the potential to turn into early-round prospects after three years in college.

Top Prospects

1. Ashe Russell, RHP, Cathedral HS, IN
The projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pound Russell has an electric arsenal that has been on display since early last summer. His fastball ranges from 91-95 mph, touching 96-97, and he has a wipeout slider in the low 80s.
