Banker’s developing a reputation as a bulldog-type pitcher, a competitive arm who controls the tempo of the game while filling up the strike zone with a steady mix of fastball-curveball. His velocity kept climbing during his outing Sunday, starting in the low-80s before eventually touching 86-87 mph more frequently. The fastball is heavy and tough to barrel, easy to swing over, and the curve spins in the 2,100 to 2,300 rpm range with above-average feel – and he’s comfortable back-footing right-handed hitters with it. It was another good look at the Carmel Catholic southpaw, who represented Team Illinois at the PBR Future Games in August.
