2022 MLB Draft: Offensive type catcher. Has present strength and a good approach at the plate. Ability to catch up to high velocity and square ball up on a consistent basis. Throughout the spring and in the MLB Draft League showed the ability to improve on making adjustments and track pitches. Solid defensive skills behind the plate with enough throwing ability. Has plus power with a big upside offensively. Chance to stay behind plate and also the offensive ability for 1B. MLB bloodlines as his father is former MLB player Toby Hall. The left hand swinging Tayden has plus raw power and one of the more distinct eyes a batter has shown in the DL, especially considering his age. Works counts and looks for his pitch to drive. Consistently barreled balls and posted EV > 100 mph. Has seen time as a catcher but his long term home is 1B where he will be given an opportunity to slug and prove his true offensive profile.
Positional Profile: C/1B - USF, Pro bloodlines. Huge offensive ceiling.
Body: 6-foot-4, 215-pounds. Tall, athletic, physical frame. Very projectable.
Defense: 2.07-2.20 pop times. Big target behind the plate. Receives well with an ability to stick the corners. Sturdy block.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. High 3/4 arm slot. Short arm action. Accurate to the bag at second and third.
Hit: LHH. Starts in a crouched, open stance. Short leg kick to the ball. Natural lift in his swing. Keeps hands inside the baseball. Gap-to-gap approach with power to the pull side gap. Above average bat speed.
Power: 103 mph exit velocity. Potential for above average to plus power.
Run: 6.85 runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: C/1B, USF
Body: 6-foot-4, 210-pounds. Has a high waisted, tall, strong, athletic build, with long legs.
Defense: 1.95-2.10 pop times. Tall setup behind the plate, gaining ground.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. Has a short, high 3/4 arm slot, with accurate throws to 2B.
Hit: LHH. Starts with a tall, open set up, while loading back and down with a barrel tilted load, and toe tap stride. Shows an uphill bat path with natural lift, swinging with intent while staying inside of baseball.
Power: 100 mph exit velocity from the tee. Squares up baseball causing the ball to jump off the barrel, uses a confident line drive powered approach with fast bat speed.
Run: 7.41 runner in the 60. Long stride runner.
Long, lean physical frame. A lot to like from the left-handed hitter. He has a wide, balanced base while maintaining rhythm in the swing. Stays in his legs well, has the ability to turn the barrel and drive the ball from gap to gap. Has present hit tool with power potential . The son of former Rays catcher Toby Hall, Tayden is extremely physical. A solid defender behind the plate, he also shows the strength plays offensively and has power potential.
