Listed at 6-foot, 195 pounds, Tresh has a physical frame with strength throughout. His top tool is pull-side raw power which has helped him slug .525 with eight home runs in 29 games this season. However, he has gone cold in the power department with just one home run since March 5. He sets up with a crouched and spread stance at the plate and hunts fastballs. His pull approach gives away much of the outer half which produces holes in his swing. In 2021 Tresh has struck out 27 times in 132 plate appearances (20.4%). Behind the plate he shows solid agility and good flexibility, but is a fair receiver (seven passed balls) with below average range in his blocking abilities. Much of this lack of range is due to his one knee on the ground setup which makes it extremely difficult to get around and soften many pitches in the dirt, especially the ones out of immediate reach. He does this in any situation, including with runners on third base. With POP times in the 1.95-2.00 range with solid carry and accuracy to the bag he has thrown out 8 of the 35 runners attempting to steal (22.9%) this season. Overall, Tresh is a marginal defender with below average hit ability. However, with high exit velocities it is this above average power potential that attracts scouts and gives Tresh top five round value for the upcoming draft.
Physical frame with strength throughout at a listed 6-foot, 193 pounds. Very spread out at the plate with front and back feet nearly touching the lines of the batter's box. Replacement stride, pull approach, average bat speed. One-for-8 with three strikeouts between Saturday and Sunday games. Shows solid agility behind the plate, starting in standard crouch to give signs, then makes a plyometric move to get into a low split squat. Threw out one of four baserunners on Sunday with POP times in 1.94-2.04 range with solid carry and accuracy to the bag. (Nathan Rode)
North Carolina State recruit. There is a lot to like in the all around package for Tresh. At the plate has a strong, balanced lower half with bat to ball skills. Shows present pull side power. He is simple and short through the zone and seems to always be on time and putting a quality pass at the baseball. Has a chance to have both above average hit and power tools in the future. Defensively he also shows above average actions. Hands work well and stays in quality receiving positions. He moves and blocks well with consistent, accurate throws in the 1.95-2.0 range. The tools all play up from behind the plate and will be one to watch going forward.
NC State recruit. 6-foot-1, 185-pound strong, wide-shouldered frame. A quality catching frame, he gets in quality receiving position and will continue to improve with reps. He has a strong arm with a clean transfer that resulted in consistent 2.0 pop times that will improve as his footwork and transfer becomes a bit quicker. At the plate, he has a balanced, wide setup with a simple load. He is short to the ball with a level path through the zone. He shows some pull power, but is more of a gap-to-gap guy currently with power potential. He has an advanced approach, feel for the barrel and that translated to the game with two hard hit singles. Overall, there is a lot of above average tools that will make him a very interesting overall follow.
04/18/17- North Carolina State recruit. Currently ranked No. 45 in the Florida 2018 Class, No. 220 Overall. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a strong, athletic build. Has a confident approach at the plate where he shows good patience and the ability to use all of the field. Laced a hard line drive into the right-center field gap for a two-run single. Made hard contact on the ball in his other two at-bats. Works the count and gets out of the box with intent. Played left during the game where he showed a strong arm on his throws into the bag.
North Carolina State recruit. Stands at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds with a strong, athletic, projectable build. Caught a strong game from behind the plate by receiving well, showing good flexibility, and displaying a strong and accurate arm on his throws down to 2B. Blocks the ball, shows good baseball IQ. Had a wide stance and showed the ability to use all of the plate. Displayed a quick bat with good use of the lower half and makes solid contact. Runs the bases well.
