Cape Cod- One of the best pitchers on the Cape this summer, Adler has big stuff with developing control. His electric fastball arrives at the plate in the 94-96 mph range with high-spin (2400-2500 rpm). This lively offering is difficult to square up, especially when thrown up in the zone. He also throws a hard slurve that comes out of his hand inconsistently at 82-85. He has feel to spin it, as the pitch will show above average at times, but it too is inconsistent in regards to repeated late bite and control. His third pitch is a rarely used changeup that has solid life, but lacks control. Adler misses bats (.113 Opp Avg) and 16.7 SO/9, but will need to sharpen his control (4.0 BB/9). The reason for his inconsistent command is tied to his delivery. His front side tends to fly open which causes him to lose his three-quarter release point. There is also some effort to his delivery, but overall Adler has a strong foundation to work with and is trending in the right direction with his control (15 BB in 24 IP for Wake in 2021). He's currently viewed as a 5th-8th round type of prospect for the 2022 draft.
10/20/18 - Wake Forest commit. 6-foot-2, 180-pound athletically-built right-handed pitcher. Short arm action, shows on the back-side, turn over quickly to a ¾ slot. Creates deception in side-step delivery by changing up timing and switching slots. Fastball was up to 87. Showed feel for tight slider, depth and shape to it, 74-76. Changeup, fade and sink, 81. Challenged hitters, attacking the zone.
07/12/18- Committed to Wake Forest University.
01/27/18- An extremely athletic, 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Long, lean frame, he ran a 6.9 60 yard dash. From the outfield he showed accurate throws, topping out at 84 mph. Offensively, he has present bat speed. While there is some steepness in the path and could use the lower half more, his bat speed and strong wrists along with a feel for the barrel created consisted hard contact in batting practice and a 90 mph exit velocity. The bat speed, bat to ball skills and athleticism make for an offensive upside. On the mound he doe a quick arm. The fastball worked 86-88 touching 89 mph. He will see big jumps as he learns to use the lower half paired with the quick arm. Also showed a short, tight slider at 73-74 mph. Very high two-way upside.
10.11.17- Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds with a projectable, athletic frame. From centerfield Adler showed a quick first step while covering ground both to his right and left with good closing speed. Fields the ball out in front and his throws to the bag are accurate. Had a standout day at the plate where he collected three RBIs on two hits. His first hit was a line drive over the center fielder’s head while his second hit was a hard hit grounder straight up the middle. Displayed quick hands and a whippy, quick swing in the box. Gets out of the box quickly and looks to run the bases aggressively. Gets good jumps on the pitcher which translated into a stolen base during the game.
01/08/17- The 6-foot-1, 165 pound OF/RHP has continued to improve and made a big jump on the mound. From a high ¾ slot he has a clean, quick arm with fastball at 83-85 mph with late life. He also showed a quality slider at 63-68 with shape and potential to be an above average pitch along with a 70 mph changeup. There is still a lot of upside in the frame and the arm action really project. At the plate he has an open stance and a level swing plane, but can sometimes cut himself off.
8/5/15 - 5-foot-10, 145 pound outfielder/pitcher with a loose lean athletic projectable young body. Loose outfield actions with a good release. Slows down a bit to field the ball and occasionally takes an extra step but has coordination. Loose arm with carry on throws. Outfield velocity was 80 mph. Has quickness in the bat with a line drive type stroke. Gap to gap type approach. Occasionally cuts his swing off. Will develop power with physical maturity. Body has a lot of upside.
5-foot-10, 145 pound right hander with a loose lean athletic projectable young body. Loose quick arm at a high ¾ arm slot. Slight stab in back. Lands slightly open. Occasionally leaves arm behind, especially on the breaking ball. Fast ball had tailing action at 76-79 mph. Change up was 73 mph which was more of a BP fast ball. Needs to develop more touch and feel and be able to take more off of it. Very young arm with some upside.
