2019, SS (USD) Chase Meidroth has a muscular strong frame with a strong lower half. Meidroth is your prototypical leadoff hitter, he battles until he gets his pitch. He either gets a hit at the start of the game or he works the pitcher to help his hitters out. Has a gap-to-gap hitting approach, with developing power who can presently hit one out. Has a loud bat, makes consistent contact, and uses the whole field. He is an average runner and is smart on the base paths. Has a strong arm and has plus range. Gets good reads off the bat, funnels the ball, an instinctive player. Has a great demeanor on and off the field. Profiles as a second-basemen at the next level but has the ability to stay at short. Recorded a hit in the first and was on base twice.
2/19/19 - Meidroth is the quintessential leadoff man. He shows patience at the plate; has excellent pitch recognition along with a thorough understanding of the strike zone. He battles in the box and makes pitchers throw a lot of pitches - he’s not an easy out by any stretch. He finished the day 1-for-2 with a walk and his out was a deep flyball out to right-center field showing off some of the sneaky power he has. Defensively he’s a field general on the dirt. Teammates look to him for his leadership. Has the tools to stay at shortstop but may profile best at second base in college, where the arm would play up from there. He instinctive and gets good reads off the bat.
8/1/18 - Meidroth is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound strong, muscular middle infielder with a strong lower half and squared shoulders. Meidroth flashes excellent glovework and a strong, accurate arm. He shows the ability to throw on the run and from multiple angles with carry. Shows an excellent pre-pitch routine and recognizes hops and bounces very well. Backhand is strong and his transfers are quick and clean. At the plate Meidroth shows a short, compact load that results in a powerful stroke through the zone. Has sneaky power as demonstrated by his HR during batting practice. Contact is loud and explosive. Shows the ability to go the other way very well with line drive power. Meidroth registered an exit velocity of 87 mph off a tee.
1/12/18 - Uncommitted. A prototypical leadoff hitter, he takes pitches, fights off pitches in the zone, and sets the table for his offense. Shows the ability to go the opposite way on a line and projects to add strength. Clocked at 4.5 from home to first, he shows natural instincts on the base paths as a runner. Defensively his IQ is off the charts. Body position is excellent. Great feeds to the shortstop. Arm plays well at second base. A fiery player who attacks pitches and the ball defensively, Meidroth plays with a chip on his shoulder and it spills over to his teammates.
