6' 155-pound frame with room for strength. Slightly open stance squatted down into his legs. Bat on shoulder until he rocks into back side to load. Lower half generates bat speed and fires to get hips all the way through to allow good extension in the zone. Gets into slot well to match pitch plane for a long time. Knack for finding the barrel in game play against quality pitching and plays faster than his 7.03 60 time. Showed an accurate arm with good carry from the outfield at 83 MPH.
10/14/18 - 5-foot-11, 145-pound frame. Has clearly made a point to get stronger as noted by his big improvement in exit velocity, 86 mph. Body still has room to fill out with some broadness in shoulders and a lean, athletic build. Barrel continues to work inside out and is focused on driving the ball through the middle of the field. Lauinger doesn’t have the prettiest swing out there but has been a consistent producer and really keeps the barrel in the hitting zone. Ran 7.01 60-yard dash and has previously shown sub-7.0 times. Shows solid outfield actions and more of a LF type arm at present. High ceiling with continued physical development.
6/6/18 - 5-foot-10, 145-pound projectable frame. Offensively Lauinger starts slightly open with a wide base. Shifts weight onto back side before hips fire aggressively. Stays short to the ball, flat swing path, good extension through contact. Posture tends to bend over plate after contact; 78 mph exit velocity. Lauinger proved to be one of the better athletes in the class, moving naturally in the outfield and posting a 6.92 60-yard dash. Everything he does is quick-twitch. Posted an 82 mph outfield velocity. Strong follow as good-looking athlete with knack for making hard contact.
1/28/18 - Lean 5-foot-10, 140-pound frame. Fast-twitch athlete posted 7.10 60-yard dash and has previously turned in sub-7.0. Shows knack for finding the barrel in game action. Hits from wide setup with low hands and virtually no stride. Hands take short and flat path to and through the baseball producing line drive contact to all fields. 78 mph exit velo will improve with added strength/mass. Moves comfortably in the outfield and his 77 mph throws show solid on-line carry. Definite follow moving forward.
1/7/18 - A complete unknown coming in to the event, but immediately put himself on the radar with a 6.94 60-yard dash. Everything he does is fast twitch and despite some crudeness in his swing, Lauinger made lots of hard contact to the pull side in BP. Power will increase with strength gains; 79 mph exit velocity. Also worked out on the infield, but his future is in the outfield where he threw 77 mph and moves well. Multi-sport athlete has a chance to improve rapidly due to athleticism.
