Allen is a 5-foot-8 155-pound outfielder with a medium frame and an athletic build. He ran a 6.86 in the 60. Defensively he worked through the baseball with a fluid exchange and an elongated arm action. He threw the ball 82 mph from the outfield accurately to bags. Offensively he starts from athletic stance, he uses a high leg kick as his load. He is some rhythm to his swing and generates fast bat speed. His swing has an uphill bat path. Overall Allen is a well-rounded player with solid athleticism. He should be able to compete at the collegiate level next fall.
6-30-2018: 5-foot-10, 180 pound, strong athletic frame with little projection remaining. Similar body type to Steve Garvey. Offensively, he’s the best all around hitter I saw this week. Is leading the California Summer League in batting average and total hits. Has a line drive swing that has some lift to it. Can hit to all fields and is very disciplined. Works the count. Has some pop as well, which translated into games. Hit a lot of hard hit doubles a home run during my looks. Has quick and strong hands. Compact swing and gets to the ball very quickly. Barrel stays through the zone. Very balanced hitter. Near average runner; 4.4-4.5 down the line. Was very sloppy on the basepaths and is not a great base stealer. Defensively, he runs good routes and has a good first step. Has a good enough arm to stay in CF, yet not good enough to be in RF. Plays the game hard. Very good competitor. Overall, I was very impressed with Logan’s hitting. His bat is definitely going to need to carry him and since he is a Division II guy, he is going to need to really mash this year to catch the eyes of scouts. (Joe Pera)
