Keystone State Baseball Academy was the host for the Unsigned Senior Showcase on October 3. A total of 20 participants from three states were in attendance to showcase their abilities. Today we continue our review of those prospects by taking a look at the outfielders in attendance.
Shane Aster Isaac Neal Joey Spallinger Tyler Stabley
Shane Aster, OF, 2016, Northampton Area HS (PA)
6-foot, 165-pound uncommitted senior. Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and takes a short stride to square. Displayed a flat barrel path and the ability to stay behind the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Aster turned in the top 60-yard dash time at the event running a 6.88. Showcased athleticism in the outfield with an accurate 77 mph arm that had solid straight line carry.
Isaac Neal, OF/RHP, 2016, Parkland HS (PA)
Physical 6-foot-1, 185-pound uncommitted senior. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance with a high-hands load and initiates his swing with a heel raise stride. Creates above average barrel whip (90 mph) with strong forearms and solid lower half action. Ran a 7.07 60-yard dash and flashed an 87 mph arm from the outfield. Two-way prospect will need to work to raise his arm slot from the outfield to get more consistent straight line carry on throws.
Joey Spallinger, RHP/OF, 2016, North Penn HS (PA)
5-foot-11, 155-pound primary pitcher. Uncommitted senior right-handed hitter starts from a wide, slightly open stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Direct swing path with line drive approach leads to a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Ran a 6.95 60-yard dash and flashed athletic actions defensively. Showcased accurate 83 mph arm strength with over the top throwing motion.
Tyler Stabley, LHP/OF, 2018, Red Lion Area HS (PA)
5-foot-4,115-pound primary pitcher. Left-handed hitter starts from an open stance with a deep load and uses a leg lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a flat barrel path and above average balance with a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash and showed the ability to play through the baseball defensively with an accurate 81 mph arm. Fundamentally sound two-way prospect will benefit moving forward from strength gains and physical maturity.
