The Pioneers, No. 2 in the most recent Metro News AA Power Rankings, got 15 strikeouts in a combined pitching effort from Cody Noe and Dakota McLoud along with just enough offense to win a one run affair at home.
McCloud, No. 13 in the current WV Class of 2017 rankings, relieved Noe with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the 5th inning and struck out six of the nine batters that he faced for the save. Noe, ranked No. 29 in the WV Class of 2017, worked 4.2 innings for the win allowing one run on two hits while striking out nine.
McCloud (pictured right) led all hitters going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI on the evening. Winfield's Evan Clay was the hard luck loser working six innings allowing two runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks allowed.
