Game of the Day: Nitro at Riverside
April 12, 2016
Nitro 6, riverside 1
Nitro has three Division I bound seniors on their roster and all played a hand in leading the Wildcats to a win Monday night at Riverside High School.
Marshall bound senior right-handed pitcher Jacob Bradley went the distance on the mound allowing five hits. The No. 8 ranked player in the WV Class of 2016 struck out six and walked three while using 102 pitches in his complete game effort. Bradley also picked up what turned out to be the game winning RBI with a solo home run in the 4th inning that at the time gave Nitro a 2-1 lead.
The Wildcats extended their lead to 4-1 in the 5th. Following a lead-off walk to Marshall signee Matt Harrison, catcher Matt Jewell went deep. Jewell, a Wright State signee, now has nine RBI on the season tied with Bradley for the team lead.
Sophomore Jason Douglas also had a big night at the plate for the Wildcats going 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Riverside was led offensively by shortstop Anthony Carfagna who went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and scored the Warriors lone run.
