This Sunday marks the 14th annual Super 60 showcase hosted by Prep Baseball Report. The event has become the most heavily scouted preseason event for potential draft picks in the Midwest. The primary purpose of the Super 60 is to give professional area scouts and crosscheckers a head start on the high school season.

Wisconsin Super 60 History

Since 2012 Wisconsin has had 14 players participate in the Super 60. This year there will be ten players from the Badger State. The last player drafted out of a Wisconsin high school to debut in the major leagues is Erik Cordier from Southern Door High School in Brussels, WI. Cordier was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2004 draft by the Kansas City Royals. After ten years in the minors leagues with four organizations Cordier made his MLB debut in 2014 for the San Francisco Giants.

Since PBR Wisconsin launched in the fall of 2012 every Wisconsin high school draft has attended the Super 60.

Three Wisconsin players that have participated in the Super 60 have been drafted since 2012.

Jeren Kendall- Jeren Kendall was drafted in the 30th round by the Boston Red Sox in 2014, but chose to attend Vanderbilt. Kendall is currently ranked the No. 7 college prospect for 2017 by D1Baseball.com.

Dan Jansen- Dan Jansen was drafted in the 16th round by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013, and is currently in their minor league system. Jansen played 46 games at Low-A last season and earned an invite to big league spring training this year.

Nathan MikolasNathan Mikolas was drafted in the 3rd round by the New York Yankees in 2012, and is currently in their minor league system. Mikolas hit .285 in 52 games for rookie ball Pulaski last year.

This year's crop of participants is clearly the best representation Wisconsin has ever brought to the Super 60. Player's draft stock will go up and down throughout their careers and sometimes more than just talent is considered in the draft, college commitments, signability, make up, all play a factor in the major league draft. But one thing is clear about Wisconsin's 2016 representation, and that is the talent is there. Wisconsin is bringing the second most representation with 10, just behind Illinois, and don't be surprised if the Badger State is one of the more talked about after this year's Super 60.
