Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 6 Michael Lippe
December 20, 2019
Since we first debuted the state’s Class of 2022 Rankings, there has been one clear and obvious choice atop the board: OF Michael Lippe (Whitefish Bay; Louisville commit).
He’s one of the most physical prospects in the state, regardless of age. He packs a ton of strength and speed into his 6-foot-1 frame, so much so that the way he races around the basepaths would look more appropriate on an SEC football field. Lippe was among the first recruits in the state’s 2022 class to commit and he verbally announced his allegiance to Louisville – a program that now has several commits in the state’s 2022 class, the top-three currently, in fact.
Lippe helped his high school make a deep playoff run in 2019 and the Blue Dukes aren’t going anywhere any time soon. It’s a youthful program with two other ranked sophomores on the team, not including Lippe himself.
As it stands now, Lippe is the No. 41-ranked prospect on the national board, too. From a tools perspective, it’s easy to see why. He’s already a 6.82 runner in the 60-yard dash that’s especially impressive when you notice he’s that quick inside a strong 190-pound frame. That speed and muscle works especially well in the right-handed batter’s box where he routinely lines hard contact from the barrel, primarily into the right-center gap that he favors. He’s certainly athletic enough to operate in all three outfield spots, including center field, and the arm strength features plenty of carry to profile in right as well.
Lippe is one of the top prospects in the Midwest and, thus, the country. He’s at the top of what’s becoming a very memorable 2022 class in Wisconsin.
