Over the weekend, a handful of Virginia/DC players took part in the PBR Maryland Fall Western Review and the Maryland Unsigned Senior Games, here are a few quick notes on the players that stood out:
-Midlothian 2017 third baseman Eric Picucci has an athletic 6-2 frame and showed gap power potential with a short swing on Saturday. He is versatile in the field, with the ability to play either corner or the outfield with a solid arm.
-Massaponax 2018 righthander Ryan Cloude has a lankier 6-1 frame and a loose arm action. Fastball sat 77-80 and touched 82 with decent feel for his offspeed.Has deception with his cross body delivery pitching from the stretch only
-Loudoun County 2017 Patrick Burke had a very good day at the Unsigned Senior Games. He has an athletic frame and a good arm, hitting 86 from the outfield and 79 in the infield. At the plate he showed some batspeed and a line drive swing. On the mound he was 80-81 with a curveball that had gradual break.
-Gar-Field 2017 outfielder Marco Hurtado also had a good Sunday. He is a very toolsy athlete with a lot of upside. He had a strong, loose arm that was 87 from the outfield. He has a line drive swing and decent speed.
-St. John’s College Prep 2017 righthander Jake Pecilunas was probably the best arm on display all weekend at either event. He works from a three-quarters arm slot and was 84-85 with his fastball. He has a sharp breaking ball that was 69-70 and a sinking change-up that was 76.
