In November, PBR Virginia/DC hosted its final event of the 2020, the Last Chance Open, which featured over 50 players and took place at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton. We continue our detailed breakdown of that event with the outfielders who participated:

 

 

 

 

 

Will Ashman OF / LHP / Frank W. Cox, VA / 2024 Ashman is 6-1 with a lanky athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load down and back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact with some extension through the ball, showed a good approach working gap to gap, some extra base power potential, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 67. Ran a 7.36 60 yard dash.

 

 

Bryce Burchette RHP / OF / Nansemond River , VA / 2023 Burchette is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, strides on line, loads down and back. Hips rotate and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, uphill swing path, some strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a good approach working gap to gap, some extra base power present, exit velocity was 85. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with ball to the side of his body and above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, longer arm action, position velocity was 79.

 

 

Tyler Campbell OF / RHP / Green Run Col., VA / 2024 Campbell is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some strength in the lower half and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load down and back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, level line drive swing path, some strength at contact, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, some extra base power present to his pull side, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 68.

 

 

Alex Caruso RHP / 1B / Appomattox , VA / 2023 Caruso is 6-2 with a strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load up and back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, some strength at contact, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, natural loft in his swing, some real power present to his pull side with gap power to all fields, exit velocity was 92. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, shorter arm action, position velocity was 80. Ran a 7.28 60 yard dash.

 

 

Donnie Evans OF / RHP / Walsingham, VA / 2022 Evans is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load down and back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach using the whole field, exit velocity was 83. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with average hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 85. Myles Frazier OF / RHP / Maury, VA / 2022 Frazier is 5-8 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He is a switch hitter, from the right side, hits from a taller balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, very short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach using the whole field. From the left side, hits from a taller balanced athletic stance, strides on line, minimal load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, very short to the ball, uphill swing path with some strength at contact, showed a good approach using the whole field. Best exit velocity was 89. In the outfield, quick feet gets body behind the ball and fields through it with average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 81. Ran a 7.00 60 yard dash.

 

 

Connor Hughes RHP / OF / Briar Woods , VA / 2023 Hughes is 6-2 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill swing path with extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with average hands, clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 82.

 

 

Jack Kaczmarek RHP / OF / Patrick Henry, VA / 2022 Kaczmarek is 6-4 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing path, some strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, natural loft in his swing, some power present to all fields, exit velocity was 92. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long loose arm action, position velocity was 85. Joseph (Joey) Masiak OF / 1B / Walsingham Academy, VA / 2023 Masiak is 6-1 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, two-tap stride on line, short smooth load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill swing path, some strength at contact with extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, natural loft in his swing, some extra base power present to his pull side with the chance to grow into more, exit velocity was 86. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 76. Declan McCann RHP / OF / Dominion , VA / 2021 McCann is a Christopher Newport commit and is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, strides on line, loads back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing path with some strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a good approach using the whole field, extra base power present in the gaps with potential for more to come, exit velocity was 91. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long quick loose arm action, position velocity was 85. Andrew (AJ) Poole OF / RHP / McLean, VA / 2023 Poole is 6-2 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, two step load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and very quick to the ball, slightly uphill swing path with a very strong contact point and some extension through the ball, some whip to his bat, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, power present to all fields, exit velocity was 96. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 84. Bryce Vick LHP / OF / James River , VA / 2022 Vick is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a leaned back balanced athletic stance, two tap stride in place, very short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path with some strength at contact point, showed a good approach using the whole field, some gap power present, exit velocity was 86. In the outfield, good feet, gets behind the ball and fields through it aggressively with above soft hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, long arm action, position velocity was 75.
