Madison Academy uses a safety squeeze in the bottom of the 7^tH to defeat Boaz 6-5.

A safety squeeze by junior Brayden Merriweather scored Alex Wade in the bottom of the 7^th to help the Mustangs edge past Boaz for their second win of the day. Junior Avery Seaton got the start on the mound for the Mustangs and went 4 innings giving up 3 runs (2 earned). Seaton allowed 4 hits with 1 strikeout and did not walk a batter. Wade relieved Seaton and worked 2 2/3 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 strikeouts. Junior Kai Watson was called on with 2 outs in the top of the 7^th with 2 men on base and he struck out the only batter he faced to keep the game tied. Boaz countered with senior Easton Hardin on the mound and he went 4 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out 2 and did not issue a walk. Junior Mason Alexander threw an inning in relief and gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 Mustangs. Freshman Branson Honea worked 1 1/3 innings and gave up 1 earned run. He struck out 1 and walked 2. Madison Academy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1^st as Wade homered, driving in Watson who doubled earlier. Boaz would take a 3-2 lead in the top of the 4^th as Jackson Sarratt blasted a two-run shot over the left field fence and Andrew Nuss drove in Andrew Burns, who singled earlier in the inning. Boaz added another run in the 5^th as Alexander was hit by pitch and later scored on a sac fly by Alex Hutchens. Madison Academy answered with 3 runs of its own in the bottom of the 5^th before Boaz tied things back up at 5-5 in the top of the 6^th. Madison Academy won it in the bottom of the 7^th after Wade walked to lead off the inning and later scored from 3^rd on Merriweather’s safety squeeze.

Note: Madison Academy defeated Lawrence County 10-0 earlier in the day. 

          Boaz defeated Lawrence County 9-5 earlier in the day.
