Updated Texas 2019 Rankings

TEXAS, USA - It has been three long months since we last updated our Texas Rankings. With a full slate of Texas High School Baseball, and PBR Texas events, we are proud to bring you our most up to date, and expanded ranking with over 300 players from the great state of Texas.

+ SS/RHP Bobby Witt Jr. (Colleyville Heritage HS) continues to prove himself as the No. 1 player in Texas. The Oklahoma commit has also moved back to the No. 1 spot in the PBR Overall Rankings. Whether he is leading Colleyville Heritage to a deep playoff run, punctuating the Under Armour All-American Game with a tape-measure home run in the ninth inning at Wrigley Field, running a 6.54 at the area code tryout, or pumping 91-95 in a relief appearance, Bobby Witt Jr. is the best player in the state.

+ RHP Matthew Thompson (Cypress Ranch HS) has an electric arm and was recently up to 93-94 mph in one inning of work in Chicago. The Texas A&M commit is a super athlete, and two-way player during the spring high school season. The arm speed and stuff suggest that he could be a high round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft.

+ RHP Will Rigney (Waco-Midway HS) continues to climb the rankings, the 6-foot-4, 190-pounder has a projectable, strong, pitchers frame. The Baylor commit has had multiple strong outings this summer, including the 18U Team USA Trials, where he allowed one run on a hit and struck out five. His fastball ranged from 89-94 mph and he mixed in two secondary pitches that flashed above average potential—a slider with sharp, late break at 81-85 and a changeup with sink and fade at 79-83. He got strikeouts with all three pitches.

+ RHP J.J. Goss (Cypress Ranch HS) has been up to 93 this summer. The Texas A&M commit has a long-limbed, projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. The natural stuff is what sets Goss apart from his peers, with a 77-82 mph slider, and an 81-82 mph changeup.

+ RHP Jacob Meador (Centennial HS, TX) is a competitive arm that has pitched well at both the Tournament of Stars and the USA Underclass Trials. At TOS, the TCU commit pitched the final three innings and struck out eight batters, allowing just one baserunner on a walk. He struck out the final seven hitters he faced. A Texas Christian recruit, Meador stands at 5-foot-10, 163 pounds and is known for spinning an above-average curveball. He flashed it in this outing, showing sharp 11/5 shape with depth at 76-78, but most of his swings and misses came on his fastball, which was 87-90 with excellent finish through the zone. Six of the eight strikeouts came on his fastball, including the last five. He also flashed a running changeup at 82.
