Rigney started the Rangers’ first game. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Baylor recruit went three innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He generally allowed only weak contact, except for a couple batters that were sitting on his breaking ball, which he used heavily. He struck out three in the outing. His fastball was up to 94, sitting mostly 90-91. He has a hard slider with lateral break in the low 80s, but also showed a breaking ball with bigger shape in the high 70s. He flashed feel for a changeup with run and sink at 82.
