On October 29^th, Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma held it inaugural event, the OK Underclass Prospect Games, in Edmond Oklahoma. Nearly 70 players from around the state from the 2018, 2019, and 2020 classes attended the event.

Player profiles have been updated with profile pictures, stats, and videos. In days to come, we will break down the event position-by-position. Today, we will take an in-depth look at right-handed pitchers. With 22 right-handed hurlers on display, there is a lot of talent to talk about. Though many of the arms on this list are two-way players, they will be covered here as pitchers.  Click on the player’s name to see their full profile.

Alex Andrews, RHP, Edmond Santa Fe HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean frame with room to add strength. A very repeatable smooth delivery with good rhythm, high-3/4 slot, finishes to first base side. Fastball shows consistent run, 74-78 mph, controlled. Curveball used sparingly, 69 mph, showed depth. Changeup has good fade, 71 mph. All three pitches for strikes. Andrews game up one hit, had one strikeout, and only threw three balls in his quick inning of work.

Tanner Brooks, RHP, Westmoore HS (2018)
A 6-foot-3, 165-pound  long limed frame, very projectable. Works with a moderate tempo, simple repeatable delivery with low effort. Big arm circle, free and easy arm action, high-3/4 slot. Fastball jumps on hitters,  81-83 mph, touches 84 mph. Curveball shows consistent late depth,  69-72 mph, 11/5 shape, for strikes. Changeup lost some arm speed, 78 mph, shows some fade. Brooks two inning outing was made up of four walks, one hit, and two strikeouts.

Devon Chapa, RHP, Madill HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 150-pound proportional frame. Delivery has moderate tempo with some rhythm, full, clean arm circle, over the top slot. Fastball has some deception coming from behind Chapa’s head, 77-79 mph and touches 81, flashes run down in the zone. Curveballs rolls with 12/6 shape at 65-67 mph, for strikes.  Knuckleball has little spin, but lacks life at times, 64-65 mph.

Jordan Compton, RHP, Carl Albert HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 170-pound lean, athletic frame with some strength. On the mounds, simple, smooth delivery, strides slightly closed, very small arm circle, 3/4 slot. Fastball shows late sink and run, 82-84 mph, can touch 85 mph. Slurve has some depth, 11/5 shape, 70-71 mph. Changeup has late fade, 74-75 mph.  Compton overcame an error in the field on the first batter with a punch out followed by double play. A seven pitch inning with only two balls thrown.

Tyler Dean, RHP, Latta HS (2018)
A 6-foot-3, 185-pound athletic frame with long legs and some strength. A simple, smooth, and easy delivery,  fluid arm action, 3/4 slot, finishes to the first base side. Fastball has heavy arm-side run, 85-86 mph. Curveball has sharp, late 11/5 shape, for strikes, 72-76 mph.  Changeup used sparingly, 76 mph, sink. Retired the first three batters in order, including two strikeouts, walked the extra batter of the inning after getting to a full count.

Dalton DeBaud, RHP, Yukon HS (2018)
A 6-foot-1, 185-pound wiry strong frame. Quick delivery, short arm circle with a quick change of direction in the back, high-3/4 slot, abbreviated finish. Fastball sits 75-79 mph, flashes some arm-side run, got swings and misses. Curveball has some depth, 64-65 mph, uses as a chase pitch. In the inning, DeBaud walked 3 and struck out three.

Carter Dobrinski, RHP, Bristow HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 185-pound athletic build. Works from the stretch, simple, repeatable, linear delivery. Arm action is quick and fluid from a high 3/4 slot. Fastball flashes some arm-side run, 79-82 mph. Curveball is tight, 11/5 shape, 71-73 mph. Stuck out two and gave up one hit as he challenged hitters in a nine pitch inning.

Jack Gray, RHP, Edison Preparatory HS (2018)
A 6-foot-6, 240-pound  impressive frame. Works from a controlled delivery with a slight pause after a high leg kick. Arm action is full and fluid, coming through at a high-3/4 slot. Fastball ranges from 77-83 mph and reaches as high as 85 mph, downhill tilt with slight run. Curveball lacks depth 60-62 mph. Gray threw two very effective innings, including striking out the side will all strikes in his second inning of work.

Landon Grissom, RHP, Stonewall HS (2018)
A 5-foot-10, 170-pound slight, athletic frame. Works from a simple repeatable delivery, short front side, 3/4 slot, loose, whippy, fast, arm action. Fastball ranged from 82-86 mph, can touch 88 mph, late life, slight run.  Slider has 11/5 shape, tight spin, late depth , 73-75 mph. One of the best breaking balls in OK’s 2018 class. Grissom had three walks and three punch outs in his two innings, giving up no hard contact.

Jake Harris, RHP, Union HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 225-pound frame. Simple delivery, some rhythm, stiff,  short arm action, over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 71-73 mph. Curveball rolls at 54 mph, 12/6 shape. Had a quick inning of work with one walk and one strikeout.

Rhett Kouba, RHP, El Reno HS (2018)
A 5-foot-11, 150-pound frame with lots of room to add strength. Delivery is up-tempo, slight hitch at the break, but repeated. Full, fluid arm circle, high-3/4 slot, some arm speed. Fastball keeps its plane, 78-80 mph, and touches 81 mph,  with more in the tank. Curveball has 12/6 shape with some depth, 70 mph. Kouba had two strikeouts, three hits, and a walk in his inning.

L.J. McDonough, RHP, Blanchard HS (2018)
A 6-foot-2, 160-pound long limbed, slender build with room to grow. A methodical delivery, sinks into front leg, arm gets extended in  back then shortens up to a high 3/4 slot, some arm quickness out front. Fastball keeps its plane, 81-84 mph, with some deception.  Breaking ball flashed some depth, 70-72 mph, 11/5 shape. McDonough racked up two strikeouts, and induced three lazy fly ball, and walked three in two innings of work.

Josh McNeil, RHP, Minco HS (2020)
A 5-foot-10, 155-pound lean frame. Works from a moderate tempo with good rhythm, small, tight arm circle, high-3/4 slot, above average effort. Fastball shows slight arm-side run, 73-76 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape and flashes depth at 63-65mph. Changeup has some fade, 63 mph. Though Josh had trouble repeating his release point during his outing, he is sure to continue to grow and get better.

A.J. Moore, RHP, Moore HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 170, proportional build. Works from a smooth, up-tempo, athletic delivery, high leg kick. Arm action is loose, fluid, high-3/4 slot, hooks the ball in the back. Fastball sat 83-85 mph , has previously been up to 90 mph, flashes late, heavy, arm-side run.  Slider is thrown with full arm speed, shows depth at 68-71 mph.  Changeup is deceptive with late sink and fade 74-77 mph. Though his best stuff was not on display, Moore made quick work of batters for two innings throwing only four balls and not allowing a hit, two stakeouts and a walk.

Wyatt Olds, RHP, McLoud HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 170-pound athletic build. Works from a slightly up-tempo delivery with good rhythm and athleticism. Olds has a long arm stroke in the back before whipping his arm through at a just above side arm slot, and a violent finish. Fastball sits 87-89 with massive arm side run and sink. Slider has 10/4 shape with late depth, backs up at times, 73-77 mph. Easily one of the best arms in Oklahoma’s 2018 class. Olds struck out five of the six batters he faced in two innings, not allowing a hit.

J.T. Ray, RHP,  Edmond Santa Fe HS (2018)
A 6-foot-4, 210-pound strong, athletic build. Works from an up-tempo delivery, a bit stiff with above average effort, strides slightly open. Arms action is long in the back, some quickness, 3/4 slot. Fastball flashes arm-side run 78-82 mph and touches  83 mph. A true slider, 10/4 shape, late depth 68-70 mph. Changeup thrown full arm speed, good fade, 67 mph. Ray faced the minimum in his two innings, attacking hitters, inducing two double plays. Fielded his position well.

Sam Replogle, RHP, Home School, (2019)
A 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame with long legs. Simple, smooth, repeatable delivery. Arm actions is clean, high-3/4 slot, throws from behind the baseball.  Fastball sits 76-78 mph with heaviness when down in the zone. Curveball has rolling action, 59-61 mph. Replogle struck out one, walked two, and fielded his position well in his inning of work. 

Brett Russell, RHP, Enid HS (2019)
A 5-foot-11, 175-pound build with a strong lower half. Simple delivery with moderate tempo. Arm drops straight down out of break, short arm circle, over the top slot. Fastball flashed some sink, 80-83 mph. Curveball showed good 12/6 shape and depth, 66 mph. Despite two errors behind him, Russell kept his composure, not giving up a hit, striking out two and walking two.

Jacob Savage, RHP, Latta HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 195-pound thick, durable build. Simple delivery with good rhythm. Clean loose arm action, high-3/4 slot, slight recoil. Fastball sat 80-82 flashing heavy run and sink, previously up to 85 mph. Curveball flashed tight spin , 11/5 shape, 71-73 mph. Savage allowed two walks, but no hits or hard contact in his inning of work.

Jaken Snider, RHP, Elgin HS (2018)
A 6-foot, 215-pound  frame with some strength. A slow to fast, athletic delivery with some rhythm.  Arm shoots straight back on the break before bouncing back through with arm speed through multiple slots, just above side to high-3/4. Fastball sat 80-83 mph, previously up to 85 mph, late sink. Slider is commanded  from multiple slots with 10/4 or 11/5 shape, 69-72 mph. Snider was in complete command of his inning, allowing two infield hits, two ground ball outs, and a punch out.

Parker Tipton, RHP, Norman North HS (2019)
A 5-foot-11, 180-pound lean, athletic build with some strength. Simple delivery, some shoulder tilt, strides slightly closed. Arm changes direction quickly in the back, loose on the way through, over the top slot, some arm speed. Fastball shows some downhill tilt, 80-83 mph. Curveball flashes good depth, 11/5 shape, 69-70 mph. Tipton recorded three strikeouts and three walks in his two innings.

Kyle Woods, RHP, Mount St. Marry HS (2019)
A 6-foot, 165-pound frame with room to add size and strength. A very controlled delivery with below average effort that adds deception. Long arm stroke, over the top slot, some looseness in the arm, balanced finish. Fastball keeps its plane, 76-78 mph. Curveball rolls with 11/5 shape, 67-68 mph. Woods pounded the zone, retiring his first three hitters and giving up a weak contact hit to a bonus hitter.
