Grant Donkin, RHP/3B, Springfield, 2022

6-foot, 180-pound right hander w/ some projection in the frame. High effort delivery, but a quick arm that topped 92 in January 2021. All the ability to be a high ceiling arm that is still looking for a collegiate home, but mostly worked 85-89, T90 this Spring and Summer. Varying spin (2143-2504 rpm) and hot n’ cold in the strike zone, but late life and occasional arm side action. Best secondary is CB at 68-73 w/ 11/5 action and keeps hitters off balance, while he showed flashes of it being a SL at 74-77 in January. Occasionally shown a CH at 77-79 this Spring to round out the mix. Nice bonus as a left handed hitting 3B, who has logged a 6.78 sixty time while going 88 across the infield and top exit velo of 100.2 mph. Good all around athlete with two-way potential, but the upside on the mound seems to be his path as he works back to low 90s and living in the zone more consistently. 


Brett Dowling, RHP, Green Hill, 2022

6-foot-1, 190-pound right hander w/ solid proportional frame. Rocker step with good tempo and repeatable delivery. Loose, easy arm action working up to 3/4 slot. He’s been very consistent this summer, staying in the upper 80s and mixing effectively. Heavy FB at 85-88, T89 (T 2244 rpm; Avg: 1869 rpm) w/ sink and late arm side life around the zone. Shown feel for two secondary pitches with CB at 71-75 and CH at 78-82. Great spin on the breaking ball (T 2446 rpm; Avg: 2281 rpm) w/ 11/5 action and good bite. He can throw it for strikes and bury down and away for chase, as a swing n’ miss offering. Throws a harder CH w/ good arm speed and some fade to help neutralize lefty bats. Ceiling not as high as Donkin, but more consistent and deeper reptitore to mix speeds and put guys away. 

 

Austin Breedlove, RHP/OF, McCallie, 2022 (Bossier Parish CC, LA Commit)

6-foot-2, 180-pound two-way prospect w/ lean, projectable frame as well as some athleticism. Worked majority of the time in the stretch at Top Prospect Games, showing a quick tap-n-go. Stays short out of the glove before lengthening out in moderate leg kick and working up to high 3/4 slot. FB at 85-89 (T 2385 rpm; Avg: 2200 rpm) w/ good carry through the zone while working up and down. Tunnels a hard SL at 78-82 (T 2451 rpm; Avg: 2372 rpm) w/ downer bite that plays well off the elevated FB. Mixing occasional CH at 78-81. Originally a catcher, converted to OF. 7.15 runner while 87 from the OF and top exit velo of 92. Some inconsistency in the swing, showing some flat paths then steep swing patterns, but can spray it around w/ some juice. Breedlove is a two-way prospect, but his upside leans towards the mound w/ a solidified two-pitch mix that would suit well coming out of the pen. 

 

 

Brody Lanham, RHP, Clarksville, 2022 (Austin Peay Commit)

6-foot-6, 210-pounds right hander has a long, lanky frame w/ great projection. Posted some great numbers this Spring, helping lead Clarksville to the AAA state tournament. Continued to make steady progress as a pitcher, earning third team PBR All-State (7-1, 1.07 ERA; 65 IP; 95 K; 15 BB; .146 BAA in Spring 2021). Quiet first step in delivery before a sea of elbows and knees coming down the slope. FB worked 84-88 (2079-2298 rpm) w/ good downhill plane while mixing downer SL at 76-80 (1989-2183 rpm) at TBCA showcase in June. Tossed a clean frame before losing the zone in the 2nd frame uncharacteristically, but has proved to be a high ceiling arm that has continued to improve. 

 

Jack Newman, LHP, Briarcrest, 2022 (Alabama-Huntsville Commit)

6-foot-2, 185-pound southpaw is the top uncommitted lefty arm in the class w/ a proportional frame. First look in an outing against state champion Baylor, where he worked two frames keeping the deep lineup off balance at 79-81 and a hammer breaking ball. As the summer progressed, the velo continued to tick upward across the board. At TN Senior Games in October, Newman was 83-85 (T 2263 rpm; Avg: 2050 rpm) showing the ability to beat bats up in the zone and also utilizing the arm side action to beat righty bats away. High-spin 12/6 hammer CB at 71-73 (T 2450 rpm; Avg: 2346 rpm) w/ great bite and deception off the elevated FB. Occasional CH at 76-78, but can lean on FB/CB combo to neutralize hitters from both sides.

 

Luke Beam, RHP, Westview, 2022

6-foot-5, 210-pound big body right hander w/ good projection. A surprise newcomer at the TN Sr. Games in our first look, as one of the biggest winners after leading the event in FB velo. Quiet throughout delivery, making it easy to repeat, and controlling his large frame down the slope while working up to 3/4 slot. Heavy FB worked 83-88 (T 2112 rpm; Avg: 1997 rpm) w/ slight sink and solid ASR, commanding it to both sides of the plate. Paired w/ 11/5 action SL at 70-74 ( T 2050 rpm; Avg: 1962 rpm), throwing for strikes and as swing n’ miss offering. Showed a hard CH at 79-80, that can be fine tuned as a third offering. Beam worked deep into some counts, but navigated the traffic allowing no runs and striking out two. The donkey body righty has a nice two pitch mix as a bullpen arm and is still just scratching the surface to maximize his frame. 


Nick Correll, RHP, Knights Academy, 2022

6-foot-2, 195-pound right hander is starting to fill out his frame after battling some injuries since his appearance at the 2019 PBR Future Games. Long frame w/ smooth and repeatable actions working through his delivery. Looked sharp in a relief appearance at the 17U National Championship at Lakepoint, allowing no hits and striking out four in two innings of work. FB has consistently been 84-88, T89 this summer w/ solid carry through the zone. Keeps hitters off balance with mini 12/6 action CB at 67-71, showing the ability to throw for strikes and bury for chase. Plus developing a CH at 79-80 to give hitters a different look. Correll was one of the highest ranked arms early in his HS career, but he seems to be healthy and working towards putting it together to reach his ceiling.
