The uncommitted 2022 has shown he has high end stuff, running his FB up to 92 last preseason. Last Spring, he worked more 85-90 and his output was dependent on how well he controlled the zone. Springfield would probably be picked to finish third in a good district behind Clarksville and Rossview, but they have a high level arm to matchup and not to mention he's shown power from the left side with exit velocity over 100.
11/15/21
6-foot, 180-pound right hander w/ some projection in the frame. High effort delivery, but a quick arm that topped 92 in January 2021. All the ability to be a high ceiling arm that is still looking for a collegiate home, but mostly worked 85-89, T90 this Spring and Summer. Varying spin (2143-2504 rpm) and hot n’ cold in the strike zone, but late life and occasional arm side action. Best secondary is CB at 68-73 w/ 11/5 action and keeps hitters off balance, while he showed flashes of it being a SL at 74-77 in January. Occasionally shown a CH at 77-79 this Spring to round out the mix. Nice bonus as a left handed hitting 3B, who has logged a 6.78 sixty time while going 88 across the infield and top exit velo of 100.2 mph. Good all around athlete with two-way potential, but the upside on the mound seems to be his path as he works back to low 90s and living in the zone more consistently.
6/24/20
6-foot, 160-pound projectable frame. In the box, Donkin had a max exit velocity of 84 mph. Began in an open tall stance with a small tight load, then used a quick stride to start his swing. Bat speed was quick, used rotational simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Average in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 80 mph; had average footwork, a clean exchange and sure consistent hands. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a quick arm action and a ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.07. Above average on the mound, where he showed quick arm speed, also used a ¾ arm angle and a quick arm action. Tall-and-fall type pitcher who uses some effort. Showed consistent balance point with even shoulders. Lands open with a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-84 mph; has a consistent command that shows tight movement. His 11/5 curveball (65-67) had tight action and decent command. Shows command low in the zone and fading action on his changeup (74-76).
