Uncommitted 2024's in Alabama

PBR Alabama Staff

The past few weeks have seen a large number of seniors across the state sign their scholarship papers and we wish all of those players the best in their upcoming high school season and in their college careers. The 2024 class is a very talented group with quality depth that consists of a large number of good players still uncommitted as the high school season gets closer. Today, we take a look at some of those players that are still uncommitted, but should find a home to play after high school.

Uncommitted Sophomores

Carter Johnson SS / RHP / Oxford , AL / 2024

5-11, 150-pounder that does a ton of things well on the diamond. From the left side, Johnson has a smooth, easy stroke with the ability to adjust and handle all parts of the zone using a fluid path. He's got sure hands up the middle with solid range for his age, and should profile there as he continues to add strength. Also a quality arm that's been up to 84 mph on the mound who saw significant innings as a freshman, while also hitting in the middle of the order.

Gatlin Pitts SS / RHP / Bayside Academy, AL / 2024

5-foot-10, 170-pound projectable  athletic frame. Starts in an open tall stance with a quick load, then uses a toe tap. Good bat speed. Good extension on his finish, upward loose swing. Pull side approach. 95 mph exit velocity, average 77.51 mph. 70.97 mph bat speed average. 20.78 mph hand speed average. Twitchy hands defensively, aggressive footwork, natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. 88 mph infield velocity. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 6.79 60 YD. Cam Warren SS / OF / Saraland , AL / 2024

In the infield, his position velocity was registered at 76 mph; showed a fluid exchange, consistent hands, and smooth feet. Used a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.26. One of the leading hitters for 6A Saraland last spring as a freshman.

Ty McGraw 3B / 1B / Gardendale, AL / 2024

Gap-to-gap power, whippy barrel through zone with uphill path. 95.18 max exit velocity, averaged 84.07 mph. 328’ max distance. 80 mph infield velocity. Long, high 3/4 slot. Steady hands with a clean transfer, athletic footwork for size around the base. Projects to be a power-hitting middle of the order bat in the future.

Josey Williamson SS / 2B / Hartselle, AL / 2024

Williamson showed a lot to like in terms of offensive ability for the Alabama 2024's at this past fall's Border Battle as he continues to solidify himself as one of the top pure hitters in the sophomore class. Using a compact frame at 5-8, 165-pounds, Williamson possesses plenty of quick twitch in his left-handed swing and carries a professional approach to the plate. Direct path to contact with ability to spray to all fields as he showed during BP and in gameplay. Consistent hitter for 6A runner-up Hartselle Tigers last spring as a freshman.

Jack Holley C / OF / Spanish Fort , AL / 2024

6-0, 175-pounds that has added size and strength since the last time we saw him. Balanced, even stance showing a controlled leg kick for trigger. Small, smooth load of the hands and a direct path to contact. Really has made noticeable strides offensively. 97.32 max exit velocity, averaged 88.12 mph. 269’ max distance. Showed a violent barrel through the zone with juice to all fields. 78 mph C velocity. 88 mph from the OF. Short, arm action and high 3/4 slot with definite arm strength with throws on the bag. 1.85-1.97 pop times. Quick, athletic footwork from behind the plate with solid flexibility. 7.34 runner in the 60.

Eli Driskell RHP / 3B / Faith Academy, AL / 2024

5-foot-11, 175-pound slim frame. Projectable on the mound, showed good arm speed, also used an over-the-top arm slot with a very quick arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. Threw his fastball 85-86 mph with a max of 87 mph; shows arm side command and played best when elevated in the zone. (Max spin 2327; Avg 2235). Had hard action on his 11/5 curveball (63-64). (Max spin 2423; Avg 2322). Heavy changeup (74-75) has arm side control. Has tight action on his 10/4 slider (69-71). (Max spin 2313; Avg 2313).

Matthew Cash SS / RHP / Bibb County, AL / 2024

Athletic 5-10, 170-pound frame. Begins in a tall stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed is above average, exhibits rotational swing plane and high finish. Gap to gap approach. Hit near the .400 mark as a freshman for Bibb County last spring. While in the infield, made throws up to 85 mph; showed consistent hands, athletic feet and a clean exchange. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. Also has been up into the mid-80's on the mound.

Cooper Jarvis C / OF / Gardendale, AL / 2024

Athletic 5-10, 165-pound frame. Jarvis has been as steady as they come in terms of offensive ability with good bat-to-ball skills that translates into hard-hit line drives during gameplay. Using a bit of a wider setup in the right side of the box, a more controlled, connected stroke generates continuous solid contact. Top-of-the-order hitter as a freshman last spring for 6A Gardendale. Versatile defensive skillset allows him to play multiple positions.

Luke Davenport RHP / 3B / James Clemens, AL / 2024

Davenport has been on our radar for quite some time after seeing him at a scout day earlier this summer, and the current sophomore showed he's well on his way to become one of the more polished arms in the class. Using a long & lean 6-3, 165-pound body, Davenport established a quality three-pitch arsenal from the get-go in his outing. His fastball got up to 84 mph early on before settling into more 81-83 mph for the majority of his outing. His willingness to spin a sharp breaking ball with 2500 rpm's & turn over a fading changeup for strikes made him a tough matchup against any hitter he faced. With more strength & development as he continues move throughout high school, Davenport has a high ceiling and plenty of upside moving forward.

Cade Miles 2B / SS / Hartselle , AL / 2024

Miles has a chance to grow into one of the more talented middle infielders in his class, and is well on his way to becoming the next high level shortstop coming out of Hartselle, AL. Lean 6-0, 165-pounds with projectable athleticism. Took quality swings from the left side all weekend at the Border Battle this fall, showing looseness to the stroke and the ability to create leverage consistently. Drove a triple into the pull side gap during gameplay, and posted a 7.11 60 YD, 80 mph INF velo and an 89 mph EV during BP.

John Robicheaux OF / RHP / Mountain Brook, AL / 2024

Robicheaux excelled in all facets at the Underclass Games event this summer, both in the pro-style workout and in gameplay. The 6-1, 165-pounder started off his stellar day by clocking a 6.86 laser-timed 60 YD, throwing 85 mph from the outfield, and posted a 91 mph exit velocity during his round of BP. That swing translated over to the game, where he logged two stand-up triples into the pull-side gap. Robicheaux then flashed some two-way ability when he ran the fastball up to 84 mph with a clean delivery.

Brendan Conner RHP / 3B / Corner, AL / 2024

Conner exudes physicality with his durable 5-11, 185-pound body with broad shoulders and a strong lower-half. Uses that frame well to excel in all parts of his game, Simple setup at the plate, and uses a powerful stroke from the right side to impact the baseball to the power alleys. Worked both parts of the field with consistency, generating a 93 mph exit velocity. Also hopped on the mound during gameplay and ran the fastball up to 86 mph. Strike-thrower with feel for a tight-spinning breaking ball for some swings-and-misses.

Carson Smith RHP / C / North Jackson, AL / 2024

Durable 5-9, 185-pound frame. Smith worked 83-85 mph, and bumped 86 mph a couple of times during a look last spring in the 4A State Playoffs.. There is some effort in the delivery but is not “max effort” as he is still going to have a chance to add velocity from a high ¾ arm slot. At times the fastball seemed to show some cutting action. He also featured a quality breaking ball that he showed a ton of confidence in. The pitch shows late depth as he continued to locate it down in the zone and to the glove side at 68-71 mph. Can also handle the bat from the right side with power potential.

RJ Brooks OF / RHP / Oxford, AL / 2024

6-foot-1, 192-pound athletic frame. During batting practice, Brooks recorded an exit velocity of 93 mph. Started in a balanced, athletic stance with a compact load, then used a leg kick. Bat speed was quick, and showed upward swing plane. He Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 79 mph; has fluid feet, and sure hands. Used a consistent arm action with a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.82.

Jackson Hunter RHP / 3B / Hazel Green , AL / 2024

6-3, 185-pounder with a lot to like in his long, loose arm action and simple mechanics. The delivery is easy and very athletic and there will be additional velocity added as he continues to mature and add strength. The fastball was 82-84 mph and topped at 85 mph which he seemed to locate very well down and to the arm side. Mixed in a breaking ball at 68-70 mph that he occasionally located down in the zone. This pitch can eventually be major weapon as the consistency improves. Mixed in just a few changeups on the night but the pitch had definite deception and was a weapon at 73-74 mph.
